Guest guest
Hi Tess, I grew up in the inner city of Los Angeles, then lived in Detroit and Chicago...I always wanted to live in the country...and now I do! moved into this home in May that sounds a lot like where you grew up...the house is surrounded by woods on all sides...across the street is a sheep and goat farm...it is so neat to look out in the yard and see the wild turkeys, possom and listen to the owl in the backyard...haven't spotted the owl yet...but sure hear him...it is so great to drive home after work to the country...it sure is a different life...waking to birds and crickets and the neighbors rooster instead of the hub bub of the city traffic, sirens and trains. There are 5 or 6 goats who get out of the fenced in area each morning...and are wandering in our front yard...I had always thought I wanted a goat; but now I can enjoy the neighbors goats minus the work and responsibility of taking care of them...talk about the good life! Do you miss living in the country? are you in the City now? marge [ ] Kathi > Hi Kathi...when the kids were little we lived way out in the country on > some acreage. I miss those days. Guest guest
((((((Kathi)))))) That was so sad, I’m so sorry to hear about . I’ve also always wanted a goat – they’ve got such personality! Everyone I know knows this and thinks I’m nuts but I just love them to bits. I even love their smell, which I'm told is " not normal " - apparently they don't smell good, but I disagree! LOL! What kind of bird is a Quaker? I’m picturing a duck but don’t think there’s a duck that can talk – sounds really interesting. Guest guest
Add me to both your bail list! Better yet, I¹ve got some extra vicodan and a few others too So we can be cell mates It¹s appalling that even with the knowledge of how painful this disease is, some doctors refuse to prescribe adequate pain meds. I wish they could suffer our pain for a week. They¹d be writing so many prescriptions that the DEA would be investigating them!!! Guest guest
Hi Kathi, Maybe we could all take a vacation together but I don't think the room service would be much to talk about. I have been trying to get through some chores that have been piling up. You know...all the fun stuff...laudry, bills, dishes, etc. My knee is still swollen but it is not hurting as bad. My ortho is going to work me in on Mon. and we will discuss what options are open to me. After all of the problems that Debs and others are having, I don't know that I will want to risk a knee replacement. I think I will go for cleaning it up and maybe have something done to the ligament. The day after I dropped by records off to the pain management clinic they called me and set up an appt. for the middle of October. I hope that my current meds last that long. I really hope that I can establish a good rapport with the dr. Kathi, you never know when you mention something to one of our members that they could have the same interests. That's why I like that we spent time discussing our lives as well as how to deal with our diseases. There appear to be a lot of bird and animal lovers in our group. Sometimes they are the only ones we don't have to explain anything to. I think that I will put on a duragesic patch tomorrow and try to move some of my hostas. They are about the only thing that will grow well in my yard due to all of the shady spots because of pecan trees. I will make sure that I don't over do it. How has your day been? I hope that you are feeling ok. Have a good weekend. Guest guest
When my girls were young, we never " celebrated " Halloween, or things related to it. My kids were " deprived " ! If they got to go trick or treating, it was only to the 2 grandparents houses, and then, I would draw eyebrows on them, or throw a sheet over them. We never made a big deal of it. But...in the Fall, we always took Pumpkins, and when we cleaned them, we would clean the SEEDS and then bake the SEEDS with salt and a little butter on a cookie sheet. They were SO GOOD! I loved them...so did the girls. My girls still do this. I think I might do this this year...for old times sake? By the way, for a parent who never really let their kids " celebrate " or participate in Halloween ...it was a funny turn of the tables on me, when my FIRST GRANDSON was born...it was on Halloween night! So now... he has his Birthday instead of Trick or Treat!
