Judi,

The Decadron will definatley cause you to retain fluids. That¹s the down

side of any steroids. Here¹s another link:

Fluid and electrolyte balance: Average and large doses of corticosteroids

can cause increases in blood pressure, salt and water retention, and

excretion of potassium. Dietary salt restriction and potassium

supplementation may be necessary (ask your doctor). All corticosteroids

increase calcium excretion.

I wish you got more benefit than 2 1/2 days and hope that you find something

that makes you feel as good as you did.

Sorry, Judi! Here is the information from the manufacturer (Merck) on injectable

Decadron:

You asked some hard-to-answer-precisely questions, but I suspect that

the injection did cause you to put on that weight. Whatever the cause,

it is most likely fluid.

Too bad that the good feeling was so fleeting, but I'm glad you aren't

going to give up! Your doctor sounds good and I believe he will try to

help you get sustained relief.
