I decided to run them through a hot water wash anyway, with no soap. WOW! There were so many suds coming out I had to run it through twice. The foam was 5 inches high. I had dropped a pillow case which I found this morning so I ran that through by itself just to see how much foam I'd get. It was still huge, from one pillow case. ...
