Suzanne - literacy programs

Thank you for sharing this information with me, Suzanne. It's wonderful

that you have volunteered in that way. I've been thinking of doing

something along these lines for a very long time.

My mother and her family came to this country in the late 40s and didn't

know English when the boat arrived in New York, so I have a soft spot

for ESL programs of any kind. That is actually the kind of literacy

project I was thinking of getting involved in. We have many immigrants

in our area and there is a waiting list for people who need a tutor.

Many people can't even get a job or drive because they lack the

necessary English skills. I guess I better stop thinking about it and do

it! Thanks for the nudge.
