Guest guest
Jeanie, I was just curious to where you get all of your information from so I could look it up. thanks margJeanie Ward wrote: Thank you sooooo much for sharing that! Was your child on Miralax? Did they do a ppm (parts per million) to see if the number of oxalate crystals were more than you would see with a normal diet? Did they say what they were from? Also, did they say what was causing the cloudiness?, I'd be interested, the same thing happened to us. It took years for the urine to clear up. I would also like to add, It was only when it was cloudy, that she complained of the stinging and burning when she had to urinate and the UTI test would come up negative for almost every office visit, which I think was because it was the oxalate crystals and my physician agree's................. thank you for sharing Jeanie momack40 <momack40> wrote: My son is still on 1/2 dose a day of Miralax. Every time we have tried to reduce it things back up.He started having cloudy urines sometime after starting on the Miralax (he has SB so he is on intermittent catheterization.) I had made comments to uro and other doctors about the cloudy urine and the crytals we would see. All I ever got was that certain foods could do that and no one seemed concerned. Finally in the last couple months his urine output reduced and his urine was nearly always cloudy (upon setting the sediment would settle to the bottom leaving the urine clear.) So I requested our GP run some urine and blood tests and indeed it is calcium oxalate crytals. He has been on probiotics & Coromega for the past year( & other supplements.) We have increased his fluid intake which has helped some. I recently started him on B6/magnesium. I have not been able to decide whether to start him on MOM (Milk of Magnesia) or the Magnesium Citrate.I discovered that Mayo Clinic in Rochester has Hyperoxaluria Center. It is one of the most experienced Centers in the world and also conducts research. Some treatments they are using and are the B6, low oxalate diet, probiotics, neutral phosphates and citrate. I will let you all know what tests they run and just what we find out after we see the doctor on the 14th.If you are interested you can check it out at http://www.mayoclinic.org/nephrology-rst/hyperoxaluriacenter.html Looking for last minute shopping deals?
