Guest guest
Ice cubes are a favorite of mine, also.(frozen, too) How 'bout the Big Chunk in several kinds.....raisin......nut......milk chocolate.....dark chocolate etc. I remember Luden's menthol cough drops at 25 cents a box for 30, now it's almost a dollar for 12 or 14. mormar46 wrote:I missed the original post about candy, but if any of you get the Food Network, there was a show on recently called " Unwrapped " where they featured old time candy, and a place that sends out boxes of the stuff. Some of it is still made, it's just hard to find. I remember the 7-Up bars too, they were my favorite along with Ice Cubes (best frozen, ha ha) Now my " Candy " is fruit and an occasional Mento. Guest guest
I still get the Ice Cubes. They sell them at the hosp gift shop for 25 cents a piece. What do they put into that chocolate to make it taste so different? Do you remember Sky Bars and ton Chews? Slap Sticks and those hard taffy pops that I think were called Batter Up Pops? My sister got a box of old time candy from a place she found on the net. She told them a year and they sent her a box of candy that was sold in that year. I'll have to ask her where she got it. It was really neat. Love and Hugs Stacey in PA

Guest guest
I remember a bar so described and what everyone is calling a 7 up bar. Kathi, you grew up in NH like I did, didn't you? The name that keeps coming to my mind is Sky bar, or Skyway bar, something like that, I can't quite remember. Do you think it is the same candy bar but with a different name? Guest guest
Suzanne and Kathi, Skybars and Seven-Up were two distinct bars, but the same idea. Check it out: http://peppermintpalace.com/pp2002/viewCandy.php3?count=174 who is hungry for chocolate and loves the Hershey's Toffee Almond Nuggets Re: [ ] Old Time Candy > Suzanne...I think you are absolutely right....skyway > is ringing my bells......sure wish I had one now...LOL > Kathi in OK > --- Suzanne <suzshay@...> wrote: > > I remember a bar so described and what everyone is > > calling a 7 up bar. > > Kathi, you grew up in NH like I did, didn't you? > > The name that keeps coming > > to my mind is Sky bar, or Skyway bar, something like > > that, I can't quite > > remember. Guest guest
No, I haven't tried those, Kathi! I try to have a chocolate reserve at all times, too, LOL! I prefer dark chocolate, but those nuggets are milk chocolate with tiny pieces of almond and toffee and wonderful - convenient size, too. Hate having to commit to a whole bar or, worse yet, a box. Time to raid the pantry again, Re: [ ] Old Time Candy > Speaking of chocolate has anyone tried the > Stovers smores candy.......they are realy good.....and > must confess to having a chocolate stash at all > times.... sorry no Hersheys Toffe > almond...although I will remeber this for future > reference...LOL Kathi in OK
Guest guest
, You are a naughty naughty girl... now I will have to buy one of those dastardly skybars!! I haven't thought of a skybar in a million years (well, slight hyperbole..) The wonders of the internet?? I wonder, do they still make skybars or are these leftovers from the 50's. Just wondering... Guest guest
I hope they were enjoyable Kathi! I¹ve been on a Klondike binge. After not having any junk food for so long, I gave in to York Klondikes. Guess I know why I can¹t loose any more weight LOL! They sooth the chocolate and the ice cream cravings at the same time a > I will have to try these....they sound good....today I > made the mistake of going to Sams for a few > things....HAHAHA ....I dont know why I say that > everytime....anyway they had Belgian pastries....and > the whole family has been sampling all evening...they > are SO good.....I try not to buy alot of stuff like > this with a diabetic husband....but I couldnt resist > and it doesnt hurt to cheat now and then...although I > have heard the fridge door open and close alot this > evening....oh well tommorow when the griping starts it > will be my fault.....anyway fellow stasher I will stop > rambling...Kathi in OK >
Guest guest
I haven't seen Oreo Klondikes! Another temptation.... I'll have to look for them. I used to be a junk food junkie. It's amazing but since I gave it up I lost my taste for it. I expected to feel deprived, but I don't. Since I lost the weight I wanted to loose, I allow myself one Klondike a day and I haven't gained! yippee!!! Would you believe I've never had rhubarb? It sounds like I'm missing something. It's not to common around here unless I just haven't noticed it. a > Yes a they were...ok so I will admit I am a junk > food junkie...i also bought oreo klondikes...I am also > a klondike fan...and Tess had my mouth watering for > rhubarb pie it is my favorite especially strawberry > rhubarb....LOL and wishing rhubarb grew in the dust > state...Kathi in OK

I try to keep a stash of it at all times. The trick is to eat only one or two small pieces at a time. I like the peanut butter cups. Guest guest
Sue, I¹d rather eat sugar than aspartame. When I treat myself, I want the real thing! Have you tried the crunchy ones? They¹re really good too. I wish they made the York with the crunchy coating. That would be heaven! Carol now you know why I haven¹t reported any weight loss a > on 10/5/02 9:08 PM, a at paula54@... wrote: > >> > I hope they were enjoyable Kathi! I¹ve been on a Klondike binge. Guest guest
Sue, Thanks for the tip. My FIL is a diabetic and has a sweet tooth. I¹m always trying to find something to give someone that has everything. I usually wind up baking something for him but it¹s not low sugar. I¹m going to experiment with the sweetener stevia and try to bake with it for some no sugar and no chemical treats. Have you ever tried stevia as a sweetener? a > > > For all those of you who are trying to lose weight (or are diabetic like > me), Stover's sugar free candy is delicious. Have you tried Splenda? It's relatively new, is made from sugar and therefore tastes much like sugar. You can cook with it, too. Sue
