Guest guest
OK, girl, you've got my prayers! It's wonderful you got good news from a (gasp!) doctor! had 7 follicles when she conceived the triplets, and she and Duane " made like bunnies " for 2 days. You may want to back off the fun just a bit (LOL) She has actually LOST about 25 lbs. since becoming pregnant, though most of that was the fluid she had built up, but they tell her that being pregnant with 3 babies diverts most of what she eats to the developing babies. And she doesn't eat a whole lot, let me tell you. Goes in spurts, like last week they went out for steaks & potatoes, but mostly she just eats small amounts often. Got some of my flowers moved, but waiting for some more rain to soften up the ground. I tried taking an ax to a scrub evergreen growing by the chimney, and also to 2 stumps in the back yard, but that was a HUGE mistake. Next time I'll wear heavy gloves first, as my paws really hurt today. I picked a bunch of Ron's hot peppers, and will dry them this weekend. What variety of basil do you have? I found a cinnamon basil plant this spring, and it has done pretty well, guess the caterpillars don't like cinnamon. But I will dig it up and pot it and bring it in the house for winter, along with part of my chive plant so I have some fresh herbs. Also drying some dill to use this winter. Continued success on your no-smoking. It sounds like you are over the worst now. Wish I could go swimming with you--I love to swim and there's no place here unless I want to go to the high school at 5 AM. No Way. I worked for 40 years and got up early and not now!! God bless, Judi
Guest guest
a, it does get COLD here on Coastal GA. We do have a lot of FREEZING days/ice and freezing WIND (the " Sea breezes " as they are CALLED!) here on the Atlantic coast. Usually our freezing " cold spells " do not really show up until end of January-early March. And with " wind chill " , I have lost many things that were considered " hardy " for our area. But not my herbs. IF you know a cold spell with WIND CHILL especially, is coming, Keep a bail of hay or Pine Straw handy, and pile it over the Herb garden. If FREEZING RAIN is expected, go so far as to have a painters PLASTIC " drop cloth " (a long strip of plastic) handy, and lay that over the hay/pine needles. Rosemary is my favorite. But she does NOT like her roots disturbed! Never try to transplant her. I " root her " by clippings, placing them in soil pots I set in the " stream " of my garden ponds.... and when winter comes, place those tiny plants into the Greenhouse. But you MUST be careful with these Baby Rosemary's also... do NOT disturbe the roots. have a bigger pot handy (if you are potting them) and make indention in the potting soil, and easily take out the " rooting " and put it in...baby it in a greenhouse (NOT the house, she don't like it there!) If your ROSEMARY is planted in big pots sitting on the GROUND, make sure a saucer is UNDER the pot, as she will put her root (a big one) out of the drain hole into the ground! If you try to break it loose... the whole pot will die. At least.... this is my experience! Not to be taken as gospel Gardening! (Rosemary is beautiful in a hanging pot also!) It you take fresh needles from it and put them into some boiled Vinegar in bottles and " bottle it " ...it is wonderful as a Hair rinse! My girls use it on their hair... I keep them stocked! My older daughter uses it in her salads also! Hey.... I LOVE " multi-use " products! Susie a wrote: > Judi, > Do you sun dry the peppers?
