My husband had the brain with contrast MRI a few months ago to rule out MS.

ANYthing you inject into your body can be dangerous and if you have a

reaction potentially fatal. I think with the contrast the particular worry

is iodine products and seafood allergies. You can die from taking Tylenol or

any over the counter meds that are suppose to be safe too. So I wouldn't

worry about it. Just make sure if you have any allergies or sensitivities

that the staff knows about it, no matter how small.

Susie,

I have never had a brain MRI, but If I am not mistaken, the contrast

dye contains iodine.

Susie,

The contrast agent used for MRIs is usually gadolinium.

Hi Susie--I have had the brain MRI with contrast. I had terrible migraine

headaches and the DR ordered one to check for tumors. THANK THE LORD I

didnt but I didnt have any reaction to it. I have heard it is a dangerous

thing if you do. They ask you ?'s first like are you allergic to

shellfish--I forget the rest.

If you are concerned I would call the place doing it and ask them to explain

it to you....beforehand.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
