Guest guest
Hi everybody, I'm relatively new to this list, just subscribed a little over a month ago. Although I was symptomatic in the mid-to-late eighties, I was not diagnosed with RA until 1997! I had to keep hounding the doctors to repeat the rheumatoid factor test. Within one month it suddenly jumped from normal to 147. Since at the time I was trying to conceive, neither the doctor nor I thought that anything more kick-ass than acetaminophen and prednisone was appropriate. I have since had a baby girl, eight months ago, and she is beautiful. I've been breastfeeding so even now I'm reluctant to take anything, but the disease isn't giving me much of a choice; it is progressing, so I am not functioning well. Since I want to have another child, and Methotrexate is contraindicated for 3-6 months prior to trying to conceive, I've decided to take Kineret, which the doctor has prescribed. My significant other just picked it up from the pharmacy and brought it to me. I've read the package insert and even spoken to people at the pharmaceutical company about it. But I'm still anxious about it because of the increased risk of infection. Is anybody else on this list taking Kineret?? Please write back to me. Thank you.
