Guest guest
Darlene~ Boy you sure know how to pick the difficult questions don't you! I'm not sure there is one particular answer...it varies on the day. In fact my answer yesterday would have been lack on fetal monitors! We have a 4 bed L & D (new unit opening soon--we do 120 deliveries a month) and a 8 bed post partum unit (L & D & PP together in one area) with 4 beds that " swing. " Usually filled with antepartums. Yesterday we had only 2 patients in PP, 2 long-term antepartums, 2 laboring patients and within 2 hours 7 pre-termers came in! There have been times when we can walk a patient and use their monitor for intermittent monitoring of another but with the pre-termers this wasn't an option!! I'm off to do it again today. Ask the group if they think they're addicted to the adrenaline rush--I know I am! Apple Valley, CA
