Guest guest
There are currently six classes of free radicals linked to chronic illnesses like heart disease and cancer. They are referred to as reactive oxygen species (ROS). The ORAC ( oxygen radical absorption capacity) assay, developed in 1992 at the National Institutes of Aging, measures the capabilities of antioxidants against free radicals by measuring how much a particular food inhibits the activity of free radicals. The test has now been adopted by the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging and is used extensively in scientific research. Thousands of ORAC tests have been done on foods that are commonly consumed in the United States and abroad, taking into account changes in readings from factors such as the ripeness of produce and seasonal variances, as well as whether the food is fresh or dried concentrate. The tests have revealed an entire spectrum of antioxidant activity in various foods. ORAC Values of Dried Fruits and Vegetables Acai (freeze dried)............................................................1026 Wild Black Raspberry.............340 Wild Blueberry..................260 Elderberry.....................240 Red Raspberry................210 Green Pepper..........160 Spinach..............150 Broccoli............130 Cranberry..........125 Cherry.........100 Red Pepp......90 Green be.....70 Tomat.....60 carrot..50 *ORAC Value Adjusted for moisture content on a gram-to-gram basis. *The juice I use has a patent on the way in which they bring the Acai berry up to just boiling and then FLASH freeze the berry...this is the process which allows the MOST nutrients to be kept intact. There is no other ACAI product out there that has the huge amounts of antioxidants that this juice does. Just for your information. YOU do your own research and find out, please. :-) Don't just take my word for it. the Acai berry was on Oprah..Dr. Oz talked about it two weeks ago on the anti-aging show. It's everywhere, just google it. The reason why it is NOW on the market, they couldn't get refrigeration into the Amazon /Brazil until 3 years ago, so they couldn't get this wonderful fruit out of the rainforest without it spoiling. Have an awesome day. ~Amy~
