Guest guest
a, beware that wheat-free and gluten-free are not the same thing...though wheat-free is probably a good step and will greatly reduce gluten in the diet...it won't bring the gluten down to zero. We are mostly wheat-free and that has helped us. To get rid of the rest of the gluten, though, if you choose to do that, you have to also eliminate barley and rye, and possibly oats (I think you can find gluten-free oats, but most oats contain gluten). If you decide to do a GF diet, be careful what grains you replace the gluten-containing grains with...rice, and rice flour, can be very constipating. There are lots of good resources out there about the GF diet...you might also want to try the SCD website (www.pecanbread.com) or any of the raw food websites (though not all of those recipes are GF) for some creative ideas. Bonnie I'll try easying up on the Natural Calmfor a week or two and see what happens. His poop is semi-solid when it first comes out, then it gets super-runny (pretty much liquid). I do agree his colon may still be stretched out and can hold quite a bit. Once he does go, there's so much of it, that I am pretty sure there is no impaction. My other thinking in terms of retraining his bowels and his mind is that it may be easier to feel that his bowels are full when the poop is just a little more solid... Thanks for the tip on the apples. Easy enough to cut them out this time of the year, so I'll do that right away. I have also read that high dose of vitamin C turns into oxalates... if that's the case, wouldn't I be better off with a magnesium supplement that doesn't have so much vitamin C? My other concern about vitamin C is that personally, if I take it, I do get diarrhea. , yes, I did go casein free for those weeks. I cannot say I saw a significant difference. But I need to try the wheat-free diet, although I do find the idea very overwhelming. Thank you for the reminder about the potty-training. I guess part of me had already resigned to have him in diapers until he's 5, and seeing him so eager... I just want to do everything I can to help him out. Does anyone know what is the reasoning behind the high dosage of Vit. C in Natural Calm? Have people who tried other Mag. supplements noticed the loose stools as well? Thank you so much for all your help. I can't tell you how much it means to have someone to bounce ideas off... Some times I feel I'm driving myself crazy with guessing work.
