Guest guest
Sue, I've looked into spenda, but haven't tried it. My husband's family has a lot of diabetes so I'm concerned that my husband will get it. That's part of the reason we eliminated most sugar from our diet. What little we do eat shouldn't be a problem. I'm interested in a healthy sweetener for the banana nut muffins that I make. I will experiment with stevia now that the weather has gotten cooler and I bake more. I'll let you know how it turns out. If you or anyone else would like to try stevia, I'd be glad to send you some to try. a on 10/7/02 8:26 PM, a at paula54@... wrote: > Thanks for the tip. My FIL is a diabetic and has a sweet tooth. Have you tried Splenda? It's relatively new, is made from sugar and therefore tastes much like sugar. You can cook with it, too. Sue
Guest guest
I went on Splenda at the advice of one of the past doctors that I had andI thought I was going to die the first (and only) time I used it. My stomach had violent spasms and pain (doubling over kind) and was not able to control my bladder or bowel. I was a horrible up to 24 hours before I thought I was back in the land of the living. It took several days for the full effect wore off. I'm afraid now to even try any non-sugar sweetners. Sacharin never agreed with me(bitter taste and after taste), Equal tasted ok in the beginning but it also developed an after taste. Sweet and Low has an after taste also, but can get by using it in small amounts, however, haven't used it in years. Does anyone remember the sweetner they used in Pepsi back around 1970? I usually can remember the name but tonight for some reason it won't come to mind. It was taken off the market because it caused cancer in mice after just a couple of years or less on the market. Wouldn't you know that is the only one I ever truely liked! The incident with the Spenda just occured in the last year. Jan in CA +/:=) a wrote:Sue, I've looked into spenda, but haven't tried it.
