This is a great article . I heard that sugar can be eaten in moderation

without causing problems, but never saw it in print. I also heard that

eating something with protein at the same time as sugar or fruit will avoid

a spike. Some eat peanut butter with the sweets.

Hi...protein definately helps blood sugars from spiking. When I want a

treat, I usually get the real deal, cause I've found substitutions do

not satisfy the craving and I end up eating a bunch of stuff I really

didn't want. I plan my insulin around it and try not to do it really

often. For me, the " sugar-free " goodies have lulled me into overeating

at times because we don't think they're as bad for us, but you can rack

up a heap of calories. The one strong vice I have (in this regard) is

diet soda...yikes...I SWEAR I crave it. I have given a lot of thought

about giving this up, but I'm not ready to. I have done that once

before and found that I lost a few pounds and was so much less bloated

without it.

Love....

Tess,

Giving up soda is hard. There are some foods that aren¹t the same without a

soda such as pizza and cheese steaks. When I go out for pizza I have a

soda, but I don¹t bring soda home so I¹m not tempted. I believe you do

crave the diet soda. I¹ve heard that many times before. When you¹re ready

to give it up, it will be another positive step forward to healthier living.

Here is a helpful article:

I¹ve really enjoyed your poetry. I hope you have a painfree weekend.
