RA and Heredity

This weekend while I was back home to attend the funeral of my aunt, I saw a

distant cousin, nicknamed " Man. " He's the second cousin of my aunt and my

mother, so I guess he's my second cousin once removed. I found out that he

also has RA, so that's three of us in my family. He got it when he was 70

and is 76 now.

He was taking mtx, but then started taking two products called Arthro-7 and

Mega MSM, and his symptoms were alleviated. His doctor told him to keep

doing whatever he was doing.

He even brought me some ordering information. The products are pretty

expensive. I think I'll stick with my mtx, Arava, and Bextra. I don't put

too much faith in herbal remedies, but I did find it interesting that they

brought him relief. Or so he thinks, anyway. It was also interesting to find

someone else in the family who has RA. I guess it came from my maternal

grandmother's family.

How many of you with RA have tracked down where it probably originated from?
