Guest guest
Hi all As an Aussie who really has no idea about the US system I'm seeking your advice. I provide a distance education course which I feel many nurses may be interested in, but want to know what 'accreditation' they would like for having done it. Do you need to have CEUs or anything like that to recertify? What accreditation bodies would you recommend I approach? How about universities - any idea if they will give credit, or use others content? Any advice or comments will be gratefully received. Thanks
Guest guest
Hi, ! Yes, in the US for most certifications, and even for some states, there is a requirement for CEU's to maintain a nursing license. CEU's are what is needed. I'd have to say that the American Nurses Association would be the most applicable accrediting body out there. Though there are others, many certifications are very specific about what CEU's they accept for recertification. If (and I'm assuming it is) the distance course you have to offer is OB related, then AWHON may be the accrediting body which may be applicable. Someone else can chime in with what that stands for, since I only remember AWHON from when it was NAACOG, and can't remember what the letters AWON stands for. ----------Jeanine [OBnurses] recertifying requirements Hi all As an Aussie who really has no idea about the US system I'm seeking your advice.
