How much flax oil do you give your son? my son is 3.5 .. any idea how much I should give him? Thanks, SebleNaomi wrote: I just mix it with a little juice. My son is really good about taking medicines and things like that so I just measure the dose into a medicine cup, then add a tiny bit of juice and he drinks it like that. I don't know if a pickier kid would do it like that, though. I did the same thing with the mineral

oil, but have heard a lot of people had a really hard time getting their kids to take that at all. I've also measured the flax oil and then just dumped it into a cup of juice or something and he doesn't seem to care.I haven't tried it, but maybe it could be mixed into applesauce or something?>> > > > but I wasn't comfortable with that, so I switched him to flax oil. > > > > how do you give the flax oil? Pectin seems to be controversial -- I've seen it listed as a home remedy for constipation, but then other sources say it is binding. I can't say for sure, but in our experience, very ripe bananas (which also contain pectin) are loosening, not binding.

Ok, I totally know that about applesauce... I actually don't give it

to my son for that reason! I was tired yesterday and not thinking

clearly - I was just thinking of foods that the flax oil could mix

into, and sort of forgot the whole problem we were discussing! Sorry!

But, I bet it would mix into a smoothie well, or something like

that! :)

Also, as far as dosages, I've never been sure exactly how much to

give him. My son is almost 4 and weighs about 39 lbs. When I first

started (a year ago) I just did maybe a tsp. a day, which seemed

enough, but we were still doing the miralax at the time. The tsp. of

flax oil helped more than the mineral oil did, though. Now that he

is off Miralax I am trying to figure out which things work best for

him and dosages of everything, etc. I've been doing a TBSP of the

flax oil lately, which I read somewhere on the internet is an ok

amount to give. But, it's like everything else - you just have to

try it and increase or decrease as necessary, I think. I don't know

if too much might cause diarrhea?
