Guest guest
My chronic constipation was so bad I thought I would never stop using Miralax. But now I haven't used it in a month or so. It turns out it's a lot easier to control the softness of one's stools without harsh laxatives than I thought. Here is what I did to help me. 1) High carbohydrate and low protein/fat diet. Yup the opposite of the atkins diet. I eat grains, vegatables potatoes etc. 2) Lots of water (10-12 8 ounce glasses a day) 3) Vitamin C. This alone can be increased until your stools are looser. 4) mineral supplementation. Most are chronically under-supplemented. The big one here is magnesium. Magnesium can fix your constipation all by itself, especially if you use the highly absorbable magnesium citrate. You can also get potassium citrate, but I think magnesium is a little safer. 5) Salt. Supposedly a big danger to your health, yet they give salt licks to our animals. You have to get unrefined salt however. Table salt is toxic. E.g. Real Salt, Himalayan salt etc. Take a small amount of salt with your vitamin C (< 1/4 teaspoon) 1 teaspoon salt = 4-5 grams. 6) probiotics. yoghurt or health food store probiotics.
