I take product called " Digest Gold " by Enzymedica which is a full-spectrum enzyme and also has DPPIV activity, meaning it can digest the proteins in wheat and gluten that can be problematic for many. But I also take their " Gluten-Ease " which specifically targets gluten and has a higher DPPIV activity. I add this to the other enzyme with any meal that contains wheat. All enzymes should be taken prior to eating I do believe we hash's would do far better eliminating gluten altogether, but a rarely eat bread anymore and don't like sandwiches, so I don't get as much as some. I just am not quite ready to give it up totally since when going out to eat I don't want to have to worry about any bits of wheat that could be in the meal. I carry my enzymes with me in my purse. > i do know that when i eat beef that it seems to slow my " digestive > cycle " down (slower transit time and just feel " heavier " <, but I > also have the same problem when eating corn (eg corn taco shells, > taco chips) which i believe is due to a food allergy... > > has anyone tried them and if so what kind? > > i just got one that is Natural Papaya and Pineapple enzymes (IE > bromelain, papain and mycozyme > > --but i just noticed the store had " broad spectrum " ones that had > about 10* different enzymes.. is there any controversies with any of > these or bad side effects > > -Carol > > PS i have the " famous " hypothyroid symptom of scalloped tongue, but > it appears that only a very few of us have this problem.. > one nurse told me she heard once that it could be a " gall bladder " > symptom and related to not digesting foods.. >
Guest guest
There is an autoimmune disorder (that I have in addition to Hashi's) where your immune system attacks certain cells in your stomach which make the enzymes for B12 absorption. When this happens, you have to get injections of B12 regularly or some people can take a under-the tongue dose (I do the injections, so I don't know much about the other) You should be tested for B12 to see if you are deficient, that is a good indicator. For more thorough information(I'm at work and have to be quick right now) visit: http://www.pernicious-anaemia-society.org/ -- In Thyroiditis , " ms_sisyphus_00 " wrote: > > hi > i was wondering how you know if you need " digestive " enzymes; i > have read in different places that hashis folks may have a problem > with not enough enzymes? > > i do know that when i eat beef that it seems to slow my " digestive > cycle " down (slower transit time and just feel " heavier " <, but I > also have the same problem when eating corn (eg corn taco shells, > taco chips) which i believe is due to a food allergy... > > has anyone tried them and if so what kind? > > i just got one that is Natural Papaya and Pineapple enzymes (IE > bromelain, papain and mycozyme > > --but i just noticed the store had " broad spectrum " ones that had > about 10* different enzymes.. is there any controversies with any of > these or bad side effects > > -Carol > > PS i have the " famous " hypothyroid symptom of scalloped tongue, but > it appears that only a very few of us have this problem.. > one nurse told me she heard once that it could be a " gall bladder " > symptom and related to not digesting foods.. >
Guest guest
I've read about that, the immune system attacks the parietal cells. The definitive test for B12 deficiency is the urinary MMA (methylmalonic acid) test. There are other tests, but not as accurate. I asked my doc to do this and we just bypassed all the other tests that are normally done. It wasn't expensive, either. > > > > hi > > i was wondering how you know if you need " digestive " enzymes; i > > have read in different places that hashis folks may have a problem > > with not enough enzymes? > > > > i do know that when i eat beef that it seems to slow my " digestive > > cycle " down (slower transit time and just feel " heavier " <, but I > > also have the same problem when eating corn (eg corn taco shells, > > taco chips) which i believe is due to a food allergy... > > > > has anyone tried them and if so what kind? > > > > i just got one that is Natural Papaya and Pineapple enzymes (IE > > bromelain, papain and mycozyme > > > > --but i just noticed the store had " broad spectrum " ones that had > > about 10* different enzymes.. is there any controversies with any > of > > these or bad side effects > > > > -Carol > > > > PS i have the " famous " hypothyroid symptom of scalloped tongue, > but > > it appears that only a very few of us have this problem.. > > one nurse told me she heard once that it could be a " gall bladder " > > symptom and related to not digesting foods.. > > >
Guest guest
i had heard about hypoT folks getting pernicious anemia and low b12 levels. But i never heard that the stomach enzymes being affected was what caused that! really interesting. and btw, No dr has ever tested any of these things in all the decades i have been Diagnosed HypoT/ hashimoto's. i Just did a blood test for a bunch of tests including the B12 and mma but serum , not urine! i don't have good insurance ( i basically pay for everything but at a " discount " and i am going broke, so some stuff i will have to put off till i hopefully get Good insurance again. -Carol > > > > > > hi > > > i was wondering how you know if you need " digestive " enzymes; i > > > have read in different places that hashis folks may have a problem > > > with not enough enzymes? > > > > > > i do know that when i eat beef that it seems to slow my " digestive > > > cycle " down (slower transit time and just feel " heavier " <, but I > > > also have the same problem when eating corn (eg corn taco shells, > > > taco chips) which i believe is due to a food allergy... > > > > > > has anyone tried them and if so what kind? > > > > > > i just got one that is Natural Papaya and Pineapple enzymes (IE > > > bromelain, papain and mycozyme > > > > > > --but i just noticed the store had " broad spectrum " ones that had > > > about 10* different enzymes.. is there any controversies with any > > of > > > these or bad side effects > > > > > > -Carol > > > > > > PS i have the " famous " hypothyroid symptom of scalloped tongue, > > but > > > it appears that only a very few of us have this problem.. > > > one nurse told me she heard once that it could be a " gall bladder " > > > symptom and related to not digesting foods.. > > > > > >
Guest guest
Jamy, What do you mean you rarely have stomach issues but do have Gluten issues?? What does gluten do to you? If it doesn't affect your digestion, what does it affect? It gives me various digestive problems, cramps, bloating, diarrhea, headaches, etc. plus really bad joint aches. And those are the only symptoms that I can actually verify. I had various low nutrient levels, too. For example, my vitamin B-12 is high/normal now. I used to get shots. I haven't retested everything, but my Vitamin D and iron are somewhat improved.
