Guest guest
Welcome, Tamara! I'm very sorry about your fibromyalgia diagnosis and that you are feeling so bad. You're in a very tough situation. Have you told your physician that you can't sleep? If he doesn't offer you more help, please find someone else who would be willing to work with you and try to help you with your pain and sleep. [ ] Intro....... > Hi everyone > > My name is Tamara. Guest guest
Dear Tamara, I am so sorry that things are so difficult for you right now. It is so hard when you feel so overwelmed. I too have been diagnosed with FM plus arthritis. All I can tell you is that you must find a dr that is a believer. So many of them are not and think that you just need to go to a pysch dr. It took me around 15 years until I got my diagnosis. In the meantime, the damage to my joints was escalating from the arthritis thus the pain was growing. I finally found a dr that helped me even though now he has closed his practice. I take Elavil to sleep and use Lortab and Duragesic for pain. I have found that massage, elec stem, and water excercise helps with the pain. When you are in unrelenting pain it is hard to handle everything in your life especially patience with your children. Has your husband read up on FM? All of us frequently mention the worst thing that people say; " But you look so well " which translated means...I have no understanding of what you are going through. When we are feeling overwhelmed, we have to remember to ask for help and just not think that our families know what we need. Another common bond...my daughter is ADHD and bipolar. She is 15 mow and it has been exhausting to raise her. Lately, I feel as though I can see a clearing and think that we finally have her medication right. Anytime that you are feeling down, you can count on our members to be there. If you have any questions, you can always know that a and can find information for you. Just remember, you are not alone. We welcome you to our group. Iris --- tamara laskowski <tamara_b73@...> wrote: > Hi everyone > > My name is Tamara. I have been recently diagnosed > with fibromyalgia. Guest guest
Hi Iris. Thanks for replying... I don't have an arthritis diagnosis. I thought that was what my diagnosis would be, but the doctor said fibro. She ran all kinds of blood work and one came back questionable so she took more blood to run more tests. Those all came back negative though and those were all the arthritis ones. I guess I just don't know enough about fibromyalgia to feel comfortable with that as a diagnosis yet. I need to get used to it. I had convinced myself that I had arthritis and to me that seems so much more real. Probably because it is something that everyone knows and understands. I am hoping that the surgery will help some with the pain...once I lose some weight. I have also started excercising and hope that will help. I joined a health club and I have been using the pool to do laps and doing a mile on the treadmill and a quick round of the weight machines. My doctor did mention that excercise seems to help with the pain. I think she recognizes that fibro is real. I just don't think she understands how much it affects my life and how much pain I am in. Thank you for the very warm welcome. It made me feel very comfortable here. Like I finally found someone who understands. Guest guest
<PRE>hi tamara, i'm kathy from il. i am 42 with inflamatory spondyloarthropy and fibromyalgia. i know what you mean about not wanting to whine. my rheumi always apologizes and says i'm the one that has to live it. i'm really sensative to meds too. so it's hard for me to take anything. i have just weaned off prednisone. she has given me samples of neurontin to try. it is supposed to work on nerve endings. maybe i'll try it once i get back from florida. you sure have your hands full i'd be tired without the disease!!! good luck. keep pushing. they work for us. kathy in il
Guest guest
Welcome Tamara. Sorry you¹re feeling so bad. I hope your doctor will help you with the pain. Are you going to a rheumatologist? I have fibro too and know how painful it can be. Here is some info on FM: http://rheumatoid.arthritis.freehosting.net/Fibromyalgia.html Joining a gym is great and may help you, especially the swimming. It gives me a lot of relief. I feel so much better in the summer when I swim every day, but when winter comes and I don¹t get the exercise in the pool, I have a lot more pain. I may join a gym again for the winter. The best pain reliever I have is my hot tub. The warm water really helps a lot. I get in at night before bed and it relaxes me and helps me fall asleep. Then in the morning it helps work out the creeks. I haven¹t had good luck with any medications helping me, but there are people that have had good luck so maybe they can offer you some suggestions. a
Guest guest
Hi Tamara, I'm glad that you have found our group. Welcome. I am 35, divorced and have a son who is 6. I was diagnosed with RA almost 3 years ago. Strange, but I don't remember being able to run, kneel, squat, or do many other things that I was able to do before. My son keeps me busy also. Sometimes that is a blessing, sometimes, not. I don't know how you do it with 2 young ones. Do you have any family close by that can help out? My mom and other family members will take Wyatt for a day or a sleepover when I am just plain run down. It is a great help. I hope that your dr. can give you something that will provide some relief. Love and Hugs Stacey in PA
