Cold FX - EXCELLENT PRODUCT, WORKS GREAT. Best place to buy is online herbal shop or Ebay. Used as a preventative or to shorten/get rid of illness.suuzin wrote: Figured this is a good time a year to start a thread on this topic.I'm fighting my 3rd or 4th cold since arriving to New York in August! The subway germs are killing me. Since we thyroidians are prohibited from using almost all over thecounter cold medicines (yes, if you didn't know, read the back ofalmost any medicine in your drug store),

what do you use? I have usedmullein (herb) but it doesn't do anything for sinuses, which is alwaysmy trouble spot. All the traditional soups, tea with honey and lemon, etc., and I think I've tried eucalyptus oil inhalation. I bought avaporizer today and will use it tonight with a little salt. Boughtsome natural cough drops.Remember, folks -- no echninacea for us either! Wishing all a warm andflu-free season!

Hi Amy,

As you probably already know, there are over 20 maps on Iridology or

diagnosing disease by ones irises. And they are not all the same.

This is just as controversial as Echinacea and gobs of other

treatments. My doctor uses only a specific Iridology map (can't

remember which one though) as a guideline but not as a diagnosis. In

fact, on my first visit with him he told me we had to do adrenal

testing as my eyes indicated my Adrenals were stressed. And my

stomach and intestines were in horrible trouble. So it is a useful

method as an indicator. But as he repeatedly says it's only a tool

and should never be the only one. I hope you were not suggesting

otherwise.

As for the Circadian rhythms idea - there are some health problems

linked to an interruption in the human circadian rhythm or the 24-

hour cycle in the physiological processes of living beings. Seasonal

Affective Disorder (SAD), and delayed sleep phase syndrome (DSPS) are

the most recognized. As I understand it, a few researchers think

that it is possible that Circadian rhythms also play a part and are

vital for maintaining consciousness. However, I must be missing

something as I don't see a direct connection between Circadian

rhythms and chronic colds or the immune system.

The way I understand 's " boost immunity " comment is that since

we have a compromised immune system (otherwise we would not have an

AI disease) already why would it be wise to deliberately add a herb

that has the capability to cause more dysfunction and problems.

I am sure will clarify what she meant.

Amy, I personally have no idea what you meant by a " HYPER immune

response. " Again, my understanding of suppressing the immune system

is to prevent further dysfunction or problems.

Also, to clarify – I won't supplement with Echinacea for the 2

reasons I posted, but if it works for you - good for you. If you do

use it frequently do check your white cell count periodically.

I agree - WE NEED to boost our immunity to fight off dis-ease. It's

just how we do exactly that - that can vary considerably. What

works for me may not work for you and vise-versa. Although we have

the same disease doesn't mean the exact treatment will work. We all

are very different indeed.

Happy hormones,

Bj

Hi BJ -- yes that's it essentially. In autoimmune disease, the immune

system is aggressively attacking things it shouldn't--so we don't want

to add more fuel to its fire is the thought.

One note on the whole cold dilemma--having this list over the years

I've heard from Hashis folks who suffer terribly from colds since the

Hashis, those who actually get far FEWER colds now, and those who have

had no change on that front. Until my move to New York this past

August, I was in the second group--I think I got one cold in about 5

years of having the Hashis (and one stomach flu--when I flew to the

east coast). So I don't attribute my recent rash of colds to the

thyroid thing... just acclimating to those heartier east coast germs

and NYC subways.. :) and possibly the weather change. (But I'm far

happier here, so it's worth it to tough it out.)

The recurrent vaginal infections are another story and definitely

coincide with the Hashis, so I'm more likely to suspect something with

hormone dysfunction or maybe the parasite there. Thankfully, I haven't

had one of those in many months.

,

Can't remember if I've mentioned this to you before, but Progesterone

levels that are too high (or too low estrogen) can be a cause of

recurrent vaginal infections.

Forgive me if I'm repeating myself. Meno brain :-) I sometimes feel

like those older people I used to make fun of--constantly repeating

the same stories over and over.
