I'm not good company anymore, don't know why anyone would want to be around me. grrrr. And, besides that, I'll have to wear that prementioned wig all week end! Ugh! And it's raining, so I'll look like I have dog hair on my head. >> Dear Nutty, I know what you mean! My kids look for excuses to get out of here and my husband teases me that I suck the life forces from him by my ability to be soooooo tired! The dog is totally happy with the whole situation - someone to snuggle with a lot! I can't imagine the wigs! I think it might be something for me to try because my skill is intolerant of chemicals so I'm afraid to anything wild. Maybe a fall? Wouldn't that surprise everyone Amy
Guest guest
Dear Judi, I hope you have a good trip that is as pain free as possible. I can't imagine living to be 102. Just think of the things that she has seen change in her lifetime...communication, transportation, and medical advances. My great aunt died several years ago 2 months from being 100. She was a woman who never took any guff from anyone. She was the ringleader at the nursing home and the employees usually tried to steer clear of making her mad. Fortunately, I was able to visit her several times and record some of her stories. I always encourage friends to ask questions about their elderly relatives' lives. We have a school assignment here that I really like. The children are asked to interview an elderly relative and find out about their life and the things that they have experienced. It is amazing what turns up that their sons and daughters never knew because they never asked. Have a great trip and please give your Aunt our regards as she begins a new life. Guest guest
Tess, those are the moments you will treasure for years to come. My 3 yr old niece spent a week with me this summer and there are several memories that make me smile (sometimes chuckle). There is nothing that can compare to the joy family and children bring to your life, is there? We are truly blessed. Take care, [ ] Weekend Hi...My daughter's birthday party was great. None of my family commented on anything uncomfortable. It was really a nice time. My grandaughter, Kelsey, came home with us and spent the night. She is 7, as smart as a whip and as cute as can be. Today when her Mommy came to pick her up, my daughter was telling her to hurry along as she was hugging kissing me good-bye 'about' 100 times. Kelsey said, " She's MY Grammi! " to which my daughter, Christena replied, " Hey, kiddo, she was mine first! " It was wonderful to be " fought " over! A very precious time! Much Love & Many Hugs.... Guest guest
Hi ...you are SO right. Sometimes when I take a look at my life through the world's conception of what is and is not valuable, I feel I come up short. But then my children or grandchildren or someone else I love will show me how invaluable I am to them, and then I recognize how incredible blessed I am. I'm so glad you have a close & dear relationship with your niece. Thank you for such a lovely & encouraging post. Much Love... Tess
