Guest guest
I'm making plans to head to Chicago with Stan on the 21st of November. We' re staying one night in downtown Chicago at the Swissotel, then heading to a client in Missouri. After that, we're going to Kansas City (and to see Independence), and to Nauvoo, IL. The stops after the client are Mormon history sites. Then we head back to Chicago, and I am going to see another family member to get more photos of my deceased relatives. That Monday night, the 25th, we're staying at the Hyatt O'Hare. I'd LOVE to meet some of my Chicago friends, but the only times I could really plan for are: * Thursday the 21st around 10:00 PM or later, close to the Swissotel (very late, I know) * Monday evening, somewhere around the Hyatt O'Hare (I'm willing to drive, but I don't know my way around very well) <g> * Early Tuesday morning, close to the airport. I have to be at the airport around 9AM, so it would have to be very early. Does anyone know whether the Hyatt is in the airport, or close by? Another Question: What kind of weather should I expect? I have lots of great sweaters and wool blazers (which I never get to wear here in Fl) but will I need a winter coat? I don't plan to spend too much time outdoors. I 'm really excited about this trip, and I sure hope my RA cooperates. Luckily it's only 9 days after my Remicade infusion, so I should be in peak form. I understand if nobody can make these weird times, but if you can, I'd love to meet! Love and hugs, Carol Re: [ ] jane <PRE>hi jane, i was on prednisone for over a year. i gained almost 30 lbs. they pulled me off because my kidneys were starting to fail and my blood sugar was raised. i also had a case of steroidal psychosis while taking the medrol pack several years ago. i laughed uncontrolled for 2 days after taking 2 of the 5 pills that day. i was still working. running the switchboard, who do you want to talk to??? laughing and hanging up on them. i thought i was going to get fired. i laughed about that too. i tried to put a box on my head so everyone would stop watching me. they finally sent me home that day and told me i was " legally buzzed " so no action was taken on me that way, also they paid me for the whole day. i had every intention of working that day. kathy in il
Guest guest
Well, Carol, how exciting! That sounds like a lot of fun. Swisshotel is wonderful (or at least it was a few years ago). At first glance, those times and days wouldn't be too easy to do for me because of my sons and our schedule, but I'm thinking about it. The Hyatt is not at the airport proper, but very close by. If I could predict Chicago weather, I would be a very rich woman indeed, LOL. Usually, it is very cold by the end of November, but one never knows what might happen here. Right now they are predicting temps an average of 20 degrees below normal for the end of the week. I think you better just check the Weather.com forecast before you pack. Guest guest
Carol, Your trip sounds wonderful. I hope you have a good trip and get to meet some of our members. The remicade is at a very good time. I¹d definitely suggest a winter coat. Being from Florida, you will feel the cold much more than someone that is used to it. I also suggest a gloves, scarf and hat and boots in case of snow. You have to keep warm! My step daughter moved to Florida and when she came up to visit, it was in the high 60¹s and she froze to death. This is a girl that used to be out in the snow with no winter coat because she didn¹t feel the cold. I want you to enjoy your trip and keep warm, so it¹s better to have and not need, than to need and not have. a > I'm making plans to head to Chicago with Stan on the 21st of November. Guest guest
<PRE>my trip to florida was nice, although i stayed inside due to the heat and humidity. at night it was the bugs. just couldn't win. mostly just visited with my family. i felt bad about our trip to cypress gardens, but i didn't want to hear them complain anymore about a waste of money. kathy in il
Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I'll be staying by the airport on Monday night, the 25th. I will almost certainly have some time to meet that evening. We're like two ships passing in the night, but this time we need to actually meet. :-) Did you have a nice time here in Florida? It's finally cooling off a little, and our high is only 79. Far cry from 34! I really wish I lived in cooler weather, though. The heat and humidity makes me feel crummy. My joints are loving the weather today. Love and hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Chicago trip! <PRE>good recomandations paula. it does get very cold here. tomorrow our high is only 34. never know how the weather will be in chicago!!! that wind will definatly go right through you!! carol, again we will be about 1/2 hr or so away from each other. hopefully we can meet. i'm more of a suburban girl and don't get into the city that much. when will you be by o'hare on monday?? kathy in il
