Guest guest
Hi , thanx forthe info on Sjogren's...my rheummy told melast week she believes I need to add this to my list of ailments...the info was timely and helpful...I see my eye doc next week...A question for you...my rheummy also told me to start phasing off the premarin (Ogen) i have been on since my hysterectomy about 12 years ago. I changed to every other day for a few weeks then will reduce it again. She also told me to add soy to my diet and to take a soy supplement vitamin. I have taken in for 3 days and promptly throw up...could it be it is toxic with one of my meds? Or, could it be I am just allergic to the soy? the pharmacist told me to stop the soy immediately...so I did...but what can I use instead of the premarin? any thoughts you have would sure be appreciated...I have been doing well on the combo of meds I am on...but obviously if I can't keep them in my system...the symptoms of RA have returned in the worst flare I have had in months....thanks ahead of time for any info you can send my way...hope you are feeling well today...fall usually is a good time for most of us it seems, hope you are having a painfree day...marge [ ] Sjogren's syndrome: a guide > " Sjogren's Syndrome: A Guide for the Patient " : > > http://www.myalgia.com/sjogrens.htm > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Marge, Regarding your reaction to soy, my sister decided to try a soy supplement a few years ago as a natural method to reduce effects of hot flashes. (Had opted not to use HRT.) Turns out after a very short amount of time she found out she was allergic to soy and actually went into anaphylactic shock. Being the daughter of a druggist and married to a pharmacist, she had benadryl on hand. Now she is super sensitive to all things soy, even newsprint. It is amazing the number of things that contain soy. I think you will also find that there are large numbers of people allergic to soy. Sorry you are in a flare, hope you get it under control quickly. Guest guest
Sorry about your Sjogren's, Marge. I hope you can find a way to be comfortable. As far as the Premarin and the soy supplement, I would call your rheumatologist and tell her what happened and ask for suggestions. I'm in the pharmacist's camp. Don't take the soy supplement anymore before talking to your doctor. Until you can speak with your rheumatologist, here is some interesting reading: What healingdeva.com says about HRT alternatives: http://healingdeva.com/hrt.htm There are a lot of interesting links here at the Feminist Women's Health Center: http://www.fwhc.org/menopause/menopause.htm Thanks for the good wishes. So far, it's a good day. I hope you will enjoy it, too! Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, thanks for your response...it probably is an allergic kind of thing...but amazing to me I have always loved chinese food and pour on the soy sauce...I'm wondering if its some of the meds I am on for ra...but I have had chinese food since being on the mtx, plaquenil, folic acid and etal....just seems strange to have happened so quickly after starting soy vitamins...I have stopped all soy and I guess chinese food too since last weeks episode...i'm also thinking the loss of the ra meds when I lost everything else...has put me into the flare...today was definately better...so luckily maybe its a short flare....I liked the saying someone said here recently... " each day is a gift not a given " I am starting to get back into gratitude for the good days...thanks for listening and responding...I really appreciate your support and thoughts...m\hope you are having a good day....marge Re: [ ] Sjogren's syndrome: a guide > > > > Hi , thanx forthe info on Sjogren's...my rheummy told melast week she > > believes I need to add this to my list of ailments...the info was timely > and > > helpful...I see my eye doc next week...A question for you...my rheummy > also > > told me to start phasing off the premarin (Ogen) i have been on since my > > hysterectomy about 12 years ago. Guest guest
Thanks again for all the info on Sjorgens...I saw the eye doc tonight...in addition to needing a new px for glasses...he confirmed the sjorgens and I am starting on eye drops...he has scheduled two more tests in a couple weeks because he got side-tracked and concerned over my blood pressure...about 6 weeks ago, my GP took me off the bp med becuase it had been normal for over a year...tonight it was so high...the eye doc sent me to the med station...they put me back on bp meds and made me stay there until the bp went down...I see my GP on friday and will see what happens. 2 weeks ago my rheummy took me off the premarin I have been on for 12 years and added soma for sleep...I am wondering if there is any connection between all of this. by the way, I am phasing off the premarin just one every other day...any ideas??? marge Re: [ ] Sjogren's syndrome: a guide > > > > Hi , thanx forthe info on Sjogren's...my rheummy told melast week > she > > believes I need to add this to my list of ailments...the info was > timely and > > helpful...I see my eye doc next week...A question for you...my rheummy > also > > told me to start phasing off the premarin (Ogen) i have been on since > my > > hysterectomy about 12 years ago.
