I'd like to take this off but I don't want to be like my grandmother and shave every day. Also will this quit after the pred stops? .. . . . Terri, don't worry -- shaving does NOT, NOT, NOT make hair grow thicker or coarser or different in any way! This is an old myth, probably based on the fact that the cut ends of shaved hair feel prickly when the hair reemerges. It feels coarse only because it's too short to lie down, not because the hair has changed in any way. ***The hair doesn't know whether it's been cut or not, so it can't grow any differently.*** I remember when I was a kid several girls were told that if they cut their eyelashes off they new lashes would grow in thicker. Yeah. Think about it -- your grandmother shaved her lip because she had a lot of hair on her lip. She had to continue shaving -- because she had a lot of hair on her lip. Not because she had previously shaved. I found the peach fuzz shaved very successfully, as it was too fine to stick up after it was shaved. For coarser facial hair, I'd use nail scissors or pluck or use Surgicream, a relatively safe depilatory, just so it wouldn't show as much as it regrew. Yes, the hair growth diminishes as the Prednisone dose diminishes. Harper

Guest guest
, thanks for writing and what you say makes sense. I may have to let her go to the resource room, but I feel that they haven't done everything to help her in class. My advocate feels the same way. Also, what you say about home being less chaotic is true. At home Lyssa can basically do what she wants, when she wants and maybe the stress of being pushed in so many directions at school is not helping her attitude. Today she was up at 4am. I think there is so much that attributes to her attitude. If anyone has any info they'd be willing to share about how their FBA works, I'd appreciate it. I just don't want them to punish her for every little thing. Maybe I'm just expecting the worse. But with the way they all didn't have time to write in the beginning of the year, but now they all can find time to tell me what she's done wrong in their class, just bothers me. I appreciate all my friends here with their support and experience. Thanks so much! Sue & Alyssa --------------------------------- DSL Something to write home about.
