hi,

would this be a good alternative to the horrible tasting magnesium

citrate i am giving my 4yr old now. she is fighting it every single

day and i am at my wits end!

Where would i find this lactulose? I hope it is not a prescription!

She is lactose intolerant (but eats yogurt ok) ...would that matter?

i am the one that has been giving it to my daughter

since february/march. i think since then. anyway, finding the right

dose is tricky. we were at 1.5 - 2 t TWICE a day for a while. we have

been able to back off to 1/2 - 3/4 t twice a day. she usually goes

once a day. though sometimes she will skip a day. but then normally

she will have 3 or so poos in a day. please not, though, that we

weren't getting great results until we took her off of milk. she

drinks almond milk now. i cannot recommend enough getting rid of the

dairy. we still have a little bit - but just for yogurt - and only

then whole milk organic plain or vanilla. low fat dairy products of

any kind are just awful for their bellies. anyway, try getting rid of

dairy, then you will see the affects of the lactulose. if he starts to

go too frequently with lots of runny poos, then you should cut down on

the med. with lilah i found that it was better to get to that place

and then cut back. good luck. dana

i really should be in bed. i don't recall at the moment who

mentioned

their child's been on lactulose for 6 months. collin's been on the

lactulose for about 2 1/2 weeks now. bm for him is averaging every 3-

4 days, which is much better than only about 2 times for the whole

month of june.

how often are you giving the doses? i notice when i give him it first

thing in the morning & right before bed, it doesn't really do

anything to help. but first thing in the morning & early afternoon

does produce a bm.

we're also still trying to find our magic doseage. how much are you

giving? our range on the bottle says 1 1/2-2 teaspoons. i had been

giving 1 1/2 tsp, but didn't seem like it made much difference,

although he had also had milk around the same time. i tried w/the 2

tsp, works but i bumped up how close the 2 doses were today(he missed

morning dose, and we were banking on him going to sleep early--which

he didn't). so, i gave 1 dose at 2:40, and the second dose around

5:20. both 2 tsp..and it was all runny. would love to hear what's

working for you.
