Guest guest
Kay, You can check your symptoms here: http://www.cushings- help.com/checklist-body.htm If you are on chronic steroids and high doses, you will develop Cushings. Guest guest
I have probably said this, but can't remember for sure (I am practicing my alsheimers for later I was on 60mg of pred off and on for almost 2 years and damaged my eyes. It caused bleeding in the macula (sp?) which left me with black spots in the middle of my vision. I've been off pred for 6 months (except for 2 weeks) and the vision is imporving. As to the weight gain . . . 30 pounds plus!! I manage an addictions program in a prison and now have to look at food as addictive. sigh!!! Guest guest
I know. I am at a total of 86 pounds since last August, over 30 of those are just since this August. I have even gotten to the point where I am not hungry all the time. I really am not eating much at all right now and still gaining. Averaging three pounds a week right now. Docs are going nuts, but there is nothing we can do about it until we get the methotrexate built up and can start trying to taper the steroids again. So I have just decided to be fat and sassy! With the Cushings, I have found that maternity shirts fit much better. So I look pregnant instead of fat! LOL Madeline > > > > > > Hello all! Guest guest
Me too Mike. I LOVE FOOD!!!! However, I am really very lucky because I really like fresh veggies like broccoli, celery, and cauliflower. I am trying to stay away from carrots and fruits though. Too much sugar in them. Also popping my own popcorn. Very low cal! Guest guest
That's my problem too. I am hungry all the time and have gained an extra 10 lbs in a short period of time. If I was able to do more and get more exercise I believe it would help. I too love fresh veggies. I just bought a 4 lbs bags of frozen chopped veggies. Lou >> Me too Mike. I LOVE FOOD!!!! Guest guest
Madeline, I love your positive attitude!!! With everything you are going through - you are an inspiration to us all. Guest guest
Thanks Alana. I have always been one of those super positive people who drive everyone else nuts. So it much easier for me to stay upbeat, but even I have my days... Madeline > > > So I have just decided to be fat and > > sassy! Guest guest
I would like to thank you also. We made choices to be happy or sad and I am happy that you made that choice. You have been an inspiration to me ever since I joined this group. The following thought always runs through my head...."Laughter is the best medicine...It has no side effect." But I do believe Laughter has side effects....but they are good one. Hang in there ! Hugs to you. Lou> > >> > So I have just decided to be fat and > > > sassy! Guest guest
You guys are so nice. Thank you Lou. This group has been my sanity for the last several months. You are right laughter is great, as long as the inhaler is not far away! LOL Madeline > > > > > > > So I have just decided to be fat and > > > > sassy! Guest guest
Thank you Madeline. I know what you mean about having an inhaler near. I have had some kind of crud for a week now. They took x-ray and my dr said she saw some swelling. I did not question her at the time because I felt so bad. She asked me if I wanted to go to the Hospital. What kind of question is that? I think I was trying to take pneumonia again. Got a shot of antibiotic and a pres. for Levaquin. My cough is very loose but every time I have to talk much, I start coughing again..... Hope you are feeling much better. Did you get a good rest today? >> You guys are so nice. Thank you Lou. This group has been my sanity> for the last several months.
