Guest guest
Just spoke to Debs - she is having a VERY rough time. The grafts that they did were not taking as well as was expected, and until they do, they cannot do the next surgery. It is a day to day thing right now. When the change the bandage today, they hope to see improvement, and if so then they may do the surgery tomorrow, but it is a day to day thing. She is still in a lot of pain, and not getting a lot of relief from the neds. I told her that if she is not in surgery tomorrow morning, I will go visit her. I am finally up and around enough myself to do that, and if I don't go tomorrow, I am supposed to be back at work on Monday, so it's now or never! Debs sends her love to all and asks that you continue to keep her in your prayers. If the grafts don't take, it could take them to a tough decision regarding the whole leg. I'll let you know what I find out later. Jeanine
Guest guest
I visited with Debs for a little while today. She sends her love to all of you, and appreciaties all of the prayers. She had a rough night and morning with muscle spasms, etc. I spent about 1/2 hour with her while she ate lunch today. She is very tired, and unhappy. They say that they can save the leg by fusing the knee together, but the physical therapist mentioned amputation and the mobility that a prosthesis would give instead. That brings up a lot of questions that she will be praying about and researching. Carol, I am sure that she would enjoy a visit! She brightened up a lot while I was there. As for me.... I finally get to go back to work tomorrow! 6 weeks recovering from back surgery is toooooo long! Not because it wasn't necessary, just because I hate being out of action that long! I still have some pain in my right leg, and the Dr says it is permament damage from the disk problem. I know that nerves can do incredible things given time and persistance, so I don't know just how " permanent " it really is, but I can live with it. I can't walk for more that about 15-20 minutes before the pain starts to really obther me. I am a Girl Scout leader who loves to hike and camp, so this could be a llittle more of a challenge, but I'm not giving up anytime soon! Talk to you all soon. Guest guest
Debs is still in the hospital. She underwent the final skin graft today on her leg...they had to wait cos she had a rash all over and they wanted to eliminate drugs to see if one of them was causing it......She hopes to go home sooner now......She hasnt turned on her computer in a while as she tires easily while reading and has been very uncomfortable from the rash, etc. Judy inAZ
