Guest guest
Do you know what your heart palpitations are from? That's kind of a loaded question, in that I have them from time to time as well and have no idea really what causes them, was just wondering if you knew what causes yours. But wanted to start there. Was the lump " canercerous " ? Take care, ~Amy~ > > I'm 26 and in Aug. a lump was found on my neck and to make a long > story short they removed the right side of my thyroid in Dec. Guest guest
I have palpitations as well. They are common with thyroid disease--and not just hyper, you can be hypo and have bad palps. So you need to look at your other symptoms too. What is WPW? You may try to start very low on your thyroid dose and work up. Some people are very sensitive to thyroid hormone and need to build up gradually. I developed really bad heart palps suddenly when I was first diagnosed, then slowly the palps went away with thyroid treatment although it was a very tough few months adjusting (I had to take Ativan at night and Paxil during the day). Then a few years later, the palps returned for me (but not as bad). Caffeine and alcohol do make them worse. Drink lots of water. I think mine are currently related more to digestion issues... I think it's a bit of a complex interrelationship between my digestion and thyroid--but also the female hormones weigh in because they are worst right before my period. > > I'm 26 and in Aug. a lump was found on my neck and to make a long > story short they removed the right side of my thyroid in Dec. Guest guest
I started having heart palpitations about a year before I got Dx'd with Hashi's. I still get them even now that my thyroid levels are good and I feel better than ever. I think the palpitations just come with the territory. MIaja** > > > I have palpitations as well. Guest guest
First off, definitely take Folic Acid around the time of menstruation, the female body looses a lot of it during that period and it needs to be replaced. I had heart palps too (with my hypothy) but don't really get them that much anymore. I'm thinking in part that's due to taking Armour now over Levoxyl/Synthyroid. I remember reading that it may be due to your body adjusting to the thyroid meds you're/we're on. Make sure to take your magnesium and calcium at nite before going to bed AND to get a vitamin B complex everyday (around the time you take your thyr meds) so to support your adrenals (stress-handling system). Perhaps that could help? Moderate cardio helps too to decrease the stress to your body that may be causing such palps, whether medication-induced or environmentally-induced. wellness and wholeness, Blair (aka " donnagiovane1 " ) > > I started having heart palpitations about a year before I got Dx'd > with Hashi's. Guest guest
I have taken Armour before for a year or two and my heart palps did not get any better(besides the fact that I gained 10 pounds on Armour!) First off, I should say that I don't get them very often. I also don't get them with caffeine or alcohol (like does). I probably get them less than once a week, if that. Nonetheless, I still have them. I do take calcium, magnesium and B. I workout probably more than anyone on this list! I go to the gym 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day! I do high intensity interval training on the elliptical, stationary bike, as well as the treadmill. I take spin classes once to twice a week, I take yoga and I lift heavy weights 3 times a week! I do not get palps when I am exercising ever. I feel better than I have my entire life! But I do sometimes get heart palpitations that last 10 seconds or so a few times a month. The only thing I am not doing is the Folic Acid, how does that correlate with the heart palpitations? Thanks, Miaja** > > > > I started having heart palpitations about a year before I got Dx'd > > with Hashi's. I still get them even now that my thyroid levels are > > good and I feel better than ever. Guest guest
My understanding is that is just one of the symptoms. I am NO expert but what I have researched is that the achy joints, diarrhea, are all related to the thyroid and Hashi.
