Guest guest
My husband has had two surgeries in the last month to repair an aneurism in his left leg. The first one was a complete botch and caused him a great deal of pain. Prior to that, the aneurism behind his left knee was just a slightly puffy sore spot - mildly annoying but very scary after the diagnosis. Scary as in - fix it or you could lose your leg. The second surgery revealed that the first one caused blockage to a couple of major veins and the stent that was installed was completely blocked. So, the only alternative was a vein graft. He was in surgery for 5 hours instead of the scheduled 1 hour. There are 7 stitched incisions in his leg. That surgery was Dec. 1. He was supposed to be able drive and be back at work Dec. 10. The only instructions were for him to walk 1/4 mile a day and to keep the incisions dry. It appears to me that 3 of the 7 incisions are infected. Most of the bruising has cleared - couldn't tell what I was looking at before - but these 3 have wide red margins. The entire area under those incisions is very hard and there are other 'knots' along the groin-to- calf area that was invaded. I've been very hesitant to try my 'home remedies' on him and he's not receptive to alternative treatment. At this point, he has not seen the doc since and he can barely walk. Walking a quarter mile a day must have been a sick joke. He can barely get from bed to bathroom using a cane. I've talked to the Dr's nurse twice and keep being told " That's to be expected. " His follow-up visit has been moved up to this Tuesday but a major storm is expected to hit tonight. I doubt we can make that appointment. It is a 2-hour drive on curvy, steep roads. SO - getting to the point of my post - I have no experience treating anything like this but I'd like to try to do something about the incisions which appear to be infected. I have EIS, MSM, and DMSO. Would making a combo of those three and using it on the areas that appear to be infected be safe? I think I can avoid getting the stitches wet and I'd only use a very small amount of DMSO. I certainly don't want to do anything to make matters worse. I'm not afraid at all about the EIS or MSM but they'd be useless topically without the DMSO. Help - Anyone! Time is of the essence and I am on digest. Feel free to contact me privately. a
