Guest guest
Where I originally came across this was in Dr. Bell's book. I had picked up a copy of it and was reading it in the library. I immediately looked at my finger tips and there were no ridges. I was astounded and wondered what in the relation to CFS would be. Dr. Bell just mentions it in passing. It is something that he had noticed a lot of his patients had. There is a medical term for the lack of ridges. I don't recall what it is off hand. If you do a google search on " finger ridges " and " chronic fatigue " , I think you will come up with some references. I never had the wrinkled fingertips. They were just very smooth and still are. But I started noticing a few whorls coming back. Maybe in the middle of my thumb there would be a very faint partial print. I seem to be noticing more and more of more complete prints but very faint. I have to hold my finger and tilt it just right in a good light or I would not think they were there. Also, a previous poster said " Now that I have eliminated some of my yeast problem, treated the thyroid antibodies, built up my adrenals....the little ridges have returned. " This is really why I posted the finger ridge question to begin with. I am definitely better right now. Some days I have energy that I have not had before. And it coincides with the finger prints returning. I think, at least in my case, and it looks like others as well, my fatigue is down and my stamina is up and it seems to correlate with the finger ridges coming back. I have been trying to help myself. Besides Bell's book I have read Teitlebaums and others and found what I could on the Internet. I can think of 2 things that could be the why I am improved. (1)I started taking Magnesium Maleate (the Maleate form is very absorbable and also NAC. The Magnesium is helpful for energy production. (A search on the Internet will bring up references to what Magnesium does.) The NAC I started taking because almost all of the sources I read recently started mentioning this. I also know about d-ribose(mentioned in Teitelbaum's book and elsewhere). I tried that some, but it is a sugar and I have to keep my blood sugar down. Carnitine another commonly mentioned supplement (Bell mentions this as does Teitelbaum, but Teitlebaum mentions every supplement under the sun) but I think that carnintine may have to be taken in high doses to be effective. The Magnesium Maleate and the NAC are the only 2 supplements that I can point at that I had started taking in the months before I started feeling better. (2)The other thing different is that I am taking allergy shots. My fatigue was often associated with prolonged bouts of sore throats. By prolonged, I mean lasting over 6 months. This happened in the fall a year ago. It took prednisone to stop it. This fall, I have started, a few times to get a sore throat, but have thrown it off each time. DItto with the fatigue. I am not over that but I am definitely throwing it off better. It is not lasting for days on end. The reason I am posting this, is maybe it will help someone else as I seem to be doing something right, at least for now.
