Guest guest
I dont think this is possibly connected with our son, but YES, infact he completely quit all forms of drinking. We have to manually do ourselves for him. All his doctors just pressumed this was his ACC disablity, ACCers are known for feeding/drinking issues! Even with that knowledge, I did think it was odd for him to start later with the drinking issues(has feeding issues from birth but not the drinking until around 6yrs of age). Im not saying the miralax caused this with our son, but your post sure caught my attention. Can you explain in better detail your issue/fluid intake decrease? Guest guest
Our daughter is 22 months. She was started on Miralax last week. Prior to this time she would drink water all day. She has never been a fan of juice and enjoys two cups of milk each day as well. She still wants her milk, but she has stopped drinking water. We have been playing games, buying pretty cups, etc. to get her to drink it and are lucky if we can get her through 1 small cup compared to the three plus 12 ounce cups she was drinking prior to starting the meds. Guest guest
It is good she is still willing to drink some things, you could probably dilute little bits with water, even the milk. We actually did this with him not drinking water and this worked for a while, but now nothing. Hopefully this is just a phase for your daughter and not a long term issue. Sometimes kids do go through these phases. Unfortunatly this has been going on for about 2yrs with our son. We have been fighting tubing for a while now, they said as long as I can get water in him and his pureeds in him we can avoid the tube(unable to chew)! I use a syringe for the water! He is well hydrated at all times(this is an all day event)! I know at one time during this in the beginning with him, he took some interest in bottle water/he liked the spouts! Keep us updated! I would still be curious if others have had this lack of interest in water with there children since being on miralax! Jeannie, any reports on this? I havent noticed since I have been in this group! Guest guest
, have you read the FDA adverse events? http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/miralax/files/--- Subject: Re: Re: Fluid Intake DecreasedTo: miralax Date: Sunday, September 28, 2008, 5:34 PM Our daughter is 22 months. Guest guest
Jeanie, Thank you. I took some time to read them earlier this week. VERY SCARY. Exactly why I want Jordan off of the Miralax. I am still giving her 2 tsp. daily and I take it with her...of course, I'm a lot bigger than Jordan and what I don't feel she might. Still, my thought is that if that quantity makes me feel bad then imagine what it will do to her. I never gave her the "cleaning out" doses and her x-ray still showed progress so I stuck with what I was doing. Dr. . Three years ago this October my 12 month old died in his sleep ~ Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood. 30 minutes prior to me finding him he was breathing and sleeping peacefully...or so I thought. He had his one year vaccinations five days before but of course they could not have killed him...it had been over 24 hours...even though the info the doctors send home says adverse reactions up to 14 days after the shots are administered. I digress. And I'm showing my anger. :/ My daughter has been tested for several things b/c of 's death. In doing so we learned she has obstructive hypopneas/apnea, and life threatening allergies to eggs, peanuts, shellfish and bananas. With each bit of info we learn about her we believe we are closer to learning possible causes for 's death. His doctor said he was "fine" five days before he died. The boy had one cold when he was two weeks old. That was the only time he was sick in 1 year eleven days. Fine...that's why my daughters tummy issues and the Miralax are terrifying me. We don't give her any meds...not even Tylenol and she has not received and vaccinations yet. It was my decision to take her to the GI doctor. Her Ped, who I suppose is as good as it gets, didn't suggest it. Never thought that she was backed up. Thought it was gas or her food allergies. I believe I waited too long for the GI. When she was three months old they wanted her on Zantac and to give her a swallow study...that wasn't happening until they could give me more specifics...so I kept her away from the GI. Today my mind is reeling. I read all of the posts on this site. There is so much info to learn and so many things that I don't understand. You all are very intelligent and well educated on this subject. By any chance have you created a Miralax for Dummies cheat sheet so I can do a quick scan of terms and definitions while I am reading more and educating myself on healthier alternatives? The one day I took Jordan off Miralax she had pain all day and a terrible night...her nights are always the worst. A lot of info in response to your short question huh? I just am really at a loss. I thought I was being proactive not giving her additional Laxatives with the Miralax and giving her small dose of that...and then I read the things you all are doing for your children and realize I still have a lot of options and A LOT to learn to keep Jordan safe. Thank you for your time, effort and suggested readings. Sincerely, Re: Fluid Intake Decreased I dont think this is possibly connected with our son, but YES, infact he completely quit all forms of drinking. We have to manually do ourselves for him.
