Guest guest
I don't know, but have a related question (below) and yes all the D3 I've seen is from fish oil. Which is why I can't do much. Cheese isn't supplemented iwth D3 nor is my half and half, sour cream, and yogurt, only milk is fortified with it apparently. So I'm not getting much from diet, as I also can't eat ocean fish. Molecularly distilled fish oil (no mercury) is available, and I was hoping I'd be able to use it, but not. But you are right, I see nothing mentioning vit D on any fish oil except......... Cod liver oil is supposed to be a good supplement for vit D, I haven't checked to see if there is a molecularly distilled or no mercury versions out there, as I can't take it in any case. My son has been taking Cod liver oil, and says he feels improvement from it. So I have gone back to my vit A palmitate and D2 supplement. I'm looking for info re whether D2 is better than no D at all? And whether A palmitate is better than no A at all? Damned allergy anyway! sol ms_sisyphus_00 wrote: > hi > if you test and are low on vitimin D3, what brand or type of > supplement is the best? > > i mean i know they aremade out of fish? > and would like to avoid the mercury and etc. > >
Guest guest
Ho sol, As far as I know Cod Live Oil is from fish. My dd is sensitive to fish products, too. I buy her the Country Life brand of Vitamin D3 non-fish liver source - Vit D3 as cholecalcferol from lanolin. Guest guest
Hi Sol, Sorry, I forget that part. D2 is also a way to get vit d, it's just that you need to take a much higher dose to get the equivent D3. http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/11/5387 There is info on the vitamin d website as well. http://www.vitamindcouncil.com/ Also, the d3 is more readily absorbed so that's why it's recommended over the D2. If I remember correctly D2 is only a short term solution. HTH, Bj > > As far as I know Cod Live Oil is from fish. My dd is sensitive to > > fish products, too.
