His recommendation was anywhere along the Atlantic coastline from Myrtle Beach and south. So we took a long weekend and went to St. Simons Island. Within the first 6 hours my numbers were much better, and by the end of the next day I could walk all over the pier and parks without having to resort to extra nebs. So, I have experienced this type of improvement on the coast before. We talked about this again today, and he reiterated that for some asthmatics being right on the Atlantic Coast is almost miraculous. However, I did notice that over the weekend in Orlando my numbers dropped a bit. So I guess the benefit is only being right at the beach. Talk about expensive real estate! Madeline > > Madeline.... First, Im glad you are back home and have some direction as to what is going on with your lungs.? Second...Keep in mind that at the Mayo, the HVAC system is much better at its job than the average home's ventilation system is.? The humidity here in West Central Florida kills me...it doesnt set off my asthma per se, but it definitely limits what I do outside.? If you have other ways of expressing your concerns, peace or gratitude then verbalize the way you wish but don't offend others. Guest guest
Terry, Unless I missed something it was not the "Group" that said anything about praying for someone, It was that indivdual member, and that is her own request. She says she is a atheist if that is her choice that is her right, and even if your or I disagree, she has her rights. Please don't take offence with her honesty. Guest guest
I just returned from my trip to Denver and came across this thread. Please clarify in clear terms whether praying is allowed or not. If the words 'i'll pray for you' are so offensive, please feel free to delete them. Rest assured that as one who is not ashamed to be a Christian (Eastern Orthodox variety) that I will continue to pray. Might I suggest that if the word 'prayer' is in the text then one might include it in the topic so that those offended may delete the message witout being acosted by our beliefs. For me, to be told that i must stop the praying for another is offensive. My faith is one of the best tools I have to survive this beastly disease. I am appolgise if this is wrong, I am just tired of being told that my faith must take second place to the beliefs of others. That many who call for inclusion and tolerance would deny the same to Christians or any other faith group that prays. I will sit quietly now, and see how matters turn out. Guest guest
Mike, Rights and respect work both ways. If you expect me to respect your right and desire to pray, then you must also respect my right (and the rights of others) for whom prayer and organized religious mandates are not the core of our lives. If someone respectfully states that they do not wish your prayers, then you should accept that and move on. For me, being told to pray is offensive. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Madeline.... Guest guest
No, it was a case of I wrote a polite requist for people to not pray FOR ME, as I am not Christian, and am uncomfortable with the thought of people praying for me. Someone misread that as don't pray for anyone. A good example to why you should read things carefully. No one has banned praying. Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me. Guest guest
The conference was great. It was the first Therapeutic Communities conf since their last one on 9/11/01 in Washington DC. The conf was phenominal. My bags were checked exhaustively by TSA in Anchorage but Denver did not give them a second look. I guess that balanced things out. I did learn that when I travel, I need to do my level best to maintain neb treatments. I basically ignored the 24 hours before/during and after each flight. Paying for it now. The problem was self-inflicted. Sigh! Thanks for the welcome. I appreciate it greatly. Mike Re: Praying for other members MODERATORSPraying four your friends> > > > >> > > > > Madeline.... Guest guest
I would have thought, though, from the context it would have been evident that's what I meant. That's the sort of thing that we imply in speech, certainly here anyway. I don't want to hear any more about it, no more attacks on my beliefs. Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me.> > > > > > From: Madeline <slim8972@>> > Subject: Re: Nasty Cold and Asthma flare> > To: asthmayahoogroups (DOT) com> > Date: Monday, 6 October, 2008, 8:14 PM> > > > > > Before I got the exposure and extra lung damage in May, I had a bad> > > > episode and my doc recommended the beach. Guest guest
Im sorry Jenn, but i too took it as you were asking us not to pray here at all, not just for you. Next time you might want to say it another way! I am a Christian also and would like to pray for those who need it, so if you dont believe in it then just reword your post. Guest guest
How can she reword her post when it is already done? Am I the only one that read the original post by her that included the post that she was replying to from Terry ...Terry plainly said she was going to pray for her. did right by including that post in her reply. I seen it...I knew what she meant. All of us make mistakes in wording things. I think many of you are being a little hard on . Guest guest
below is my original post back on 10-06-08, PLEASE enough is enough on this subject!!!! We all have more to do than "re-hash" old news. STOP already. Donna (co-moderator) Re: Nasty Cold and Asthma flareTo: asthma Date: Monday, 6 October, 2008, 8:14 PMBefore I got the exposure and extra lung damage in May, I had a bad episode and my doc recommended the beach. Madeline > > Madeline....First, Im glad you are back home and have some direction as to what is going on with your lungs.? Second...Keep in mind that at the Mayo, the HVAC system is much better at its job than the average home's ventilation system is.? The humidity here in West Central Florida kills me...it doesnt set off my asthma per se, but it definitely limits what I do outside.? If humidity doesnt set you off, then living by the coast might not be too bad for you.? > Ann > ------------------------------------
