Guest guest
Can somebody please explain the medical record portion of alteer. What are the various ways to enter data? Time to complete a chart? Does it pull data already in the system such as pmh and allergies and meds so it does not need to be reentered? Can you cut and paste into it. Can you use hot codes? Is the high speed scanner really high speed? Does the interface for fax really work? What problems does it have? What suggestions would you make if you were to improve it? Guest guest
> Can somebody please explain the medical record portion of alteer. > What are the various ways to enter data? the overall encounter is done with pulldown menues(vital signs takes you to a flowsheet for vitals to be entered | family Hx takes you to a pulldown list and text entry, etc) the actual History and PE portions are free text entry. Templates are provided but may be added to / deleted / edited. Text may be entered via keyboard, via editing templates, via dictation, etc. Dictation macros will also work. >Time to complete a chart? depends almost entirely on physician entry time for Hx + PE. as above indicates. Diagnosis is a bit slow but will get faster with experience. Also, remember that the visit is also getting coded at this point. Plan is free text. Rx is fast but printing is awkward because Alteer forces the doc to (a) print the prescription, ( sign them and © scan them back in prior to faxing. What a pain! In Kansas only controlled C-II Rx need paper copies. Electronic signatures on a faxed Rx are fine. Foo on Alteer. > Does it pull data already in the system such as pmh and allergies and meds so it does not need to be reentered? It automatically includes family Hx and what it regards as social Hx into the note. The social Hx is incomplete and there is no way to user configure this. >Can you cut and paste into it. Yes but you have to have a source for the text blocks. Alteer will not let you have a document open in one window (for the copy) and an open encounter at the same time. You would have to open a document (copy and save into another application (e.g. word) and then open the encounter to paste into. Awkward but possible. I'm beginning to do my entire Hx & PE externally and then pasting the entire thing into Alteer when done. Can you use hot codes? Yes but they have to be generated by an outside application. I use Dragon. >Is the high speed scanner really high speed? Yes. wow. >Does the interface for fax really work? Yes very well. > What problems does it have? > What suggestions would you make if >you were to improve it? I'm not in town now so I don't have my whole list but here is a short list: need to have 2 windows open at the same time need a form of documents which can be repeatedly opened and edited. In MY practice, I need to continually update and add to certain flowsheets. eg immunization records. I know why they do not allow this but they need to find a way to prevent undisclosed record alteration but allow this function! need user configuration on medical record elements such as social history. They are seriously out of step with my medical documentation needs. need user configurable choice as to what elements to autmatically add to the Prog. Note. eg MEDS and ALLERGIES are not added. How stupid! ROS needs to be in database form. Also user configurable. That way Problem pertinent subsets could be selected for inclusion. Prescriptions need to be added to documents with added signature without external signing and scanning The EMR leaves much to be desired. The rest is wonderful! Jim in Kansas City. Guest guest
Has anyone give feedabck to Alteer about their shortcomings of their EMR... as stated below? Are they responsive at all to Primary care doctors who would like to see certain things in the EMR... like the problems with their perscriptions, not able to keep track in one place all of the immunizations ect. Maybe if we all complained they would do something to change it?
