Guest guest
Sorry you aren't feeling so hot, Tess, but I'm glad that you'll be seeing your rheumatologist and getting your Remicade Thursday. I hope you get speedy relief. No, I don't think it's terrible to look for a new PCP. Your health is more important than possibly hurt feelings. You have to feel comfortable with each and every physician and believe that he or she is working with you to help you achieve the best health possible. The procedure you are talking about for your eyes is called " punctal occlusion. " It involves plugging the puncta in your eyes. Puncta are tiny openings in your eyelids which lead to the drainage canals which allow the liquid to leave the surface of your eyes; this is not where tears are produced. " Punctal occlusion " from VisionsEyeHealth.com: http://www.visionseyehealth.com/Punctalocclusion.html An editorial on punctal occlusion from the AMA: http://archopht.ama-assn.org/issues/v117n3/ffull/eed80010.html Here's a very good article entitled " Insulin Resistance Syndrome " from the American Academy of Family Physicians: http://www.aafp.org/afp/20010315/1159.html How long have you had a diagnosis of diabetes? How long have been using insulin? Are you Type 1 or 2? [ ] questions and concerns > Hi...I'm seeing my rheummy Thursday and having my Remicade. Guest guest
Tess, Have you been back to the doctor that took out your tonsils? Is your throat sore or feel swollen? I¹m not sure what to think about the fibroids causing constipation. I can see how it could restrict the movement of your intestines if the fibroids are pushing up against your intestines. Please mention this to your doctor and don¹t let the constipation continue. As far as seeing another doctor, I think it¹s a great idea if you think your current doctor is not being aggressive enough. It has nothing to do with your feelings for the doctor. You need someone that will address your concerns. Glad you didn¹t throw in the towel with your diet. We all have backslides and that is to be expected. Just get back on that horse as they say. I hope your efforts will be rewarded on Thursday. a > Hi...I'm seeing my rheummy Thursday and having my Remicade. Sometimes you just gotta. I asked a related question on my Fuchs' Friends list, because several people who have dry eyes talked about having their tear ducts plugged to help the problem. I, too, thought the tears came from the tear ducts. Here is the answer that I received: " Tears are produced in the tear glands in the eye lids. Tear ducts (normally) drain the excess tears away from the eyes, and are located in the inner corner of eye (near the nose). When you have have dry eyes, the tear ducts drain too many of the tears away. " The tear ducts drain into the nasal passage, and that's why you have a 'sniffly' nose when you have a hard cry. " Hope this helps. Sue in NC

Guest guest
Hi a...I met with my new PCP today and was really impressed. We mostly talked about diabetes...we did touch on other things. She said she wished she had at least 30 minutes scheduled to get to know me...I told her I had asked for a " get to know me " appointment as I have so many issues. The scheduler said that wasn't done. Dr. Brown said to tell them to schedule me for 30 and if they give me any grief to tell them to talk to her. We did talk a good 20 minutes. And they scheduled me for another 30! My cholesterol is just a bit high, so I told her I was trying to get oatmeal in more often. She thought that was great and suggested I get some more omega fatty acids in...I just ordered the Wild Salmon from the co-op...should come anytime. I'm going to talk more extensively to my gyn about the fibroids. My ENT said my throat looks beautiful, " like the Grand Canyon! " Thanks for all your loving concern and helpfulness. Hugs... Guest guest
Hi ...thanks for all the great information. I was diagnosed Type 2 diabetes in 1990. I started on insulin in 91. Since adding Actos to the mix, I have dropped my insulin from over 300 units a day to about 100. I saw my new PCP today she seems great, and up on all the new things. She does say that my using insulin will fight against weight loss, but since my diabetes is in such good control, she wants to first approach weight loss without lessening the insulin. She also said that my weight loss so far is evidence that losing weight can be done on insulin even if it takes a bit longer, and for me please not to compare myself to folks who have had gastric bypass as it is apples & oranges. She was very encouraging. She also said as more weight comes off we may be able to gradually lessen the insulin. Love... Tess
Guest guest
That's great, Tess! I'm so glad you like your new doctor. I think you made a good decision to find a more aggressive, up to date doctor. Guest guest
One thing you need to know is that different clothing manufactures have different sizing. The call it "Vanity Sizing" So depending on who made the pants has a lot to do with what the sizing is like. Yo need to compare apples to apples to really know about the pant sizing. And yes, you entire body is going to change. Don't let that depress you. Just consider how healthy you are and how healthy your baby is going to be. Congratulations on the weight loss and the new baby. Hugs, Suzanne
Guest guest
push protein. drink a TON of protein shakes. eat chicken, steak, and shrimp. you have a verrrrrrrrrrrry common problem, you are not consuming enough protein. you are doing all the right things short of protein. look, i do not understand the biology and physiology of this, i need to ask Dr. A. i just know reality. if you do not consume appropriate amounts of protein you will lose pounds and not inches. it's the same thing as those who are banded and get a fill. those fills do not kick in for up to two weeks. it makes nooooooo sense. it just is. bump up your protein and lose inches. i dunno why it works, it just does. That is totally awesome. I know I haven't posted in a while, but I've been here. Here's my questions... how come it is that I am 3-1/2 months out from surgery, down 60 lbs and I haven't changed clothing size? I went to the store the other day and was soooo depressed. When I started this journey I weighed 313 lbs and was wearing a size 26/28. So I am down to 254 (I weighed last week at the Dr.s office, we moved and I can't find my scale) and when I tried on a pair of size 24 pants I couldn't even get them buttoned... what??? Maybe I am asking for too much all at once but I thought that once you started losing weight you were supposed to be getting smaller??? Am I missing something??? Ok, so now that I've ranted and raved, I might have an answer to the above problem. On June 20 my fiancee and I found out something that is totally and completely scary, but also wonderful! I am pregnant. I wasn't " trying " to get pregnant this early, it just happened. So as of today I am 6w5d along. Do you really think that being this early in a pregnancy could affect how my clothes are fitting? Any advice would be great... a nice big slap upside the back of my head would probably be beneficial too!! Chrysi Hotmail is redefining busy with tools for the New Busy. Get more from your inbox.
