Guest guest
Gayatri, that's really interesting. I'm not sure on how that all would absorb into the skin. BUT...it's worth a try. You do have it right for the lyme portion, salt and vitamin C is a lyme treatment. see www.lymephotos.com but it's usually given orally. Let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Actually...I know of one mom who has a recovered child of lyme induced autism. She did the SCD diet, Salt C and anti-biotics for a short time. There are several others who have recovered their kids with anti-biotics. I'm doing the salt/C for myself and I have to tell you that I've had more energy this past month than in the last 2 yrs. My son is doing the salt C too, very low dose 2 grams each. He tolerates it just fine. The thing to understand about lyme is that there is a thing called a herxeimer reaction. We call them herxes. It's like a healing type phase where you get worse for a short time, then improve afterwards. Everyone varies on this, but a herx can last 1 week, then gains are made, this cycle keeps repeating as more of the bacteria is killed. When the bacteria dies it releases toxins which creates the bad symptoms - then when that flushes out, on come the improvements. A herx can happen anytime a new treatment is introduced. It could be anti-biotics, salt C, anti-parasite drugs. (kind of like die off symptoms from diflucan) A herx can be cold-flu like symptoms, achy joints/muscles, increase in autistic-like symptoms, more brain fog, trouble with word-finding/articulation, increased sensitivity to light/sound, etc. It can be any autistic symptom - neurologically or biologically that worsens for a time. A herx can be considered a GOOD THING, because that means bacteria is dyeing and to get rid of this, that's what we want. What I like about salt/C for the kids is that it isn't an anti-biotic and isn't known to stir up the yeast. It actually has helped heal my gut and mine was in really bad shape 6 months ago. I had more food intolerances than any ASD kid I know. Now...I've been able to get most foods back with no backlash. Even gluten for me. AND I KNOW that I had leaky gut because I could feel that opiod effect within 15 min. of an infraction. No dairy yet though. Some yahoo groups to check out. Lymestrategies Lyme-Autism Good luck! Guest guest
Hi, Can I order and complete the tests for lyme disease by myself, or do I need to get my md involved. I have to assume these are not the traditional tests that a hospital would have on hand. Can you give me a general idea what the cost is for the tests? I assume insurance would not cover it. Also, is it safe to blindly do the high vitamin c and the salt without the guidance of a doctor just to see what happens? Are there any other suppliments or medications that you have not already mentioned that should be avoided? It appears the only doctor doing this is in California, is he your doctor and will he work with people long distance. Is there any other medical support in any other states? I get the impression that not just deer ticks carry this virus or viruses, is this correct? Can I assume that any tick could be carrying a virus and infect a person without even knowing it? What I mean is, is it possible that there are not always symptoms to go with the virus. I was bit by many ticks as a kid, none made me sick, but 2 of my kids are on the spectrum and would love to rule it out. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
The salt kills parasites, bacteria, etc. Think salt and a snail and what happens to the snail. Same type of response happens to the critters in our bodies when we take salt. The vitamin C then comes in and repairs damage to the cells. Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, Lots of good questions. Dr. McFazdean is the only one I have listed at the time because I know her and am confident she can handle lyme and autism. She diagnosed my lyme and pushed me to get the kids tested. Usually most docs do one or another. We are building that list. I also know that Dr. Ken Bock from NY does both. But I haven't talked to him personally yet. I'm trying to screen the docs I put on there and not just make blind recommendations. Dr. M may be able to do remote consults. For the Igenex testing. I believe it's $200-400 to get the western blot tests. You can call Igenex and find out. www.igenex.com You can order the test kits from Igenex yourself, but you do need a doc to write a script for the blood draw and test. Can you find a naturopath in your area or D.O.? Or any chiropractor could write the script too. Do just try the salt/C and see what happens. Well maybe. You need to really read up on lyme and the herx cycle. On the lymestrategies yahoo group they have an e-book. I would buy that as it explains exactly what salts, the timing, ramping up the dosage, etc. You can also e-mail the "creator" per say of this protocol and ask him about doing this w/out a positive test. The Lyme bacteria has been found in mosquitos, ticks, fleas, bedbugs, breastmilk, blood (not screened for tranfusions), semen, etc. With that list...only God knows how us and these kids are getting infected. Less than 50% ever remember getting bit. Good luck and keep me posted. Tami Duncanwww.lymeinducedautism.com
Guest guest
Nora, I'm sorry to freak you out. That's interesting about the blood transfusion. That may be a method of transmission. I always say that it's important to test and rule it in or rule it out, then you know what you're dealing with.
