I can't remember who brought it up - I'm sorry, but I would love to

exchange snail-mail Christmas cards. Anyone who would like to do so,

please email me privately so we can exchange addresses.

Lovingly...

Maybe we should have one person who we all send our addresses to, and then

after everyone sends theirs in, the person with the list sends one email

with the address of everyone who wants to participate via private mail.

Hello everyone,

You could create a section in the " Database " portion of this list

which everyone who wants to participate could post their addresses.

Alternatively you could create a second group (with restricted

membership like this one) just for those people who want to

participate... that way those who DON'T aren't given the addresses

too.

I have lots of other options too, so if these ones don't work out

for those of you who want to do this, let me know and I'll post some

more ideas for you.

Regards,

Ruth

Hi Ruth,

Is there a way we could do the database section without the addresses

becoming public domain? That's the reason we wanted to do it privately, I

think.

Love and hugs,

Carol

Hi Carol,

Unfortunately no. Unless the moderators made the group " restricted "

which means they approve each member who joins. But even then, the

addresses would be visible to everyone on the group, not just some.

However if you used the database feature on a group called RA-

Support-Xmas or something, then made access to that

group " restricted " where the moderators would approve membership

(and only if the member applying is also a member of this group)

then yes, the database would not be public domain. This option would

require one of two things. Either the two owners of this group set

up the new one and did all the work of approving new members... or

the owners of this group set up temporary moderators with no

abilities (so that they can view the members list on this group to

verify anyone joining the other).

Hope that makes sense, I'm off to a breakfast date so have to dash!!

Regards,

Ruth

Odd... my other message hasn't shown up, so I hope it *does* before

this one, or this one won't make much sense lol.

I just thought of another way that wouldn't have to involve the

moderators of this group (no extra work for them). A group can

be set up, as I said before, but it can be " closed " which means you

can't even access the main page! Each member has to be invited

individually. (I'm willing to do this for you guys) We can use the

database feature here just to post your email address (which is used

to invite members to groups) that way we don't flood the messages

with requests to join... (Though if you don't know how to add an

entry in the Database, or are a " mail-only " participant, I don't

think the owners would mind a posted request or two).

The other group would have everything turned off... including

messages!! It's not intended for chit chat, just a secure location

to exchange email addresses... I wouldn't want it to take away from

this group in any way or be the cause of a " clique " or something.

I do have to dash though, don't want to be late for my breakfast

date, but let me know if this idea would work for those of you

interested... If it's approved by the owners of this group I'll

happily set it up for you and do the inviting (so no one else has to

volunteer to do the " work " lol).

Regards,

Ruth

Hi Tess,

I am with you, I would love to send cards for Christmas. Even b-days

would be nice. It is nice to get fun mail instead of bills. Hope you are

feeling better after your ordeal the other day.

Carol.

I think it would be wonderful if you could do this for us. Thank you so

much for the offer.

Anyone that wants to participate can send their address to you privately.

Thanks Ruth for all of your great suggestions. We appreciate your input.

As long as Carol can handle this, we won¹t need to set up any additional

groups.

Glad to do it. If you want to send your birthdays (you don't have to add

the year, LOL) that would be great, also. Just email me privately at

carol@... with the information, and I'll put you on a list to

receive all the names and addresses once I get them all in.

Love to all,

Carol
