Dear Kishore,

I do read all your beautiful writeups and remain unresponsive but this time your

description of Maya made me uneasy in my silence especially when I didn’t

see any names from 1974- batch(except Pradeep who accompanied you) in your

list of people wishing her good health .We from Nagpur are deeply aggrieved

and wish her a speedy recovery. We pray for her. Yesterday only , I met V.S.

Agarwal ; some days ago I met Tarvinder.We share same sentiments: we were

shocked to know about the illness first of all , it got aggravated to know

that it was in advanced stage with many nodes reported positive,needed extensive

exenteration of viscerae and pelvic organs ,permanent colostomy and

chemotherapy which have put her in a very morbid state so much so that you also

couldn’t recognise her at first sight. I can only imagine a plump Maya.Whenever

I met her,I found her plumper than the previous meeting .Present condition of

Maya unknowingly stealthily brings back the thoughts of Deepak and Neelam . I

wish that the chemotherapy proves effective and the inevitable is dispelled for

ever .I recently met Dr chiller(Husband of Neelam) when he was here at Nagpur

to attend the marriage ceremony of the daughter of Dr Rajkumar Rathi(1973).I was

happy to see him in very positive health and has become more jovial.I had a

unique privilege of working with Deepak in the same hospital, and I was present

in the hospital when he had the fatal heart attack.His family was in very bad

state as his wife was unemployed then.I must inform all that his family has also

come out of the initial setback.I am happy to note that Maya’s daughter is

already married.We are doctors and we start thinking too much.I stop here but I

will not stop praying for Maya .I hope that everybody of 1974-Batch and this

extended family of MGIMS joins me in doing so.
