Guest guest
: Thanks for the article. It really gives me some amunition to use when I see the rheumatologist, also, it might convince him that I need off the Prednisone. Actually went to the mall this am for first time in six weeks. Got the bright idea that my girlfriend and I will try to walk each saturday. I did pretty well for about two hours then my knees gave out, not to mention my back. Thank God for benches!!!! Was in sooo much pain, I threw up on the way home (always carry a plastic bag as I do this almost daily). In spite of everything I enjoyed myself. I swear I am going to ask Santa for scooter this year!!! I hate not being fully ambulatory....I used spend every Saturday in the mall from 9-9. I am a shopaholic. Fortunately, I am no longer employed sooo I just browse now. Forgot how much I enjoyed it. I am up trying to do some housework. Having one of my painful nights, can't sleep so I am piddling. I do have a neighbor who is going to start helping with the housework at least once a month for $25. I have a small 2 bedroom apartment and for the most part I can keep it up, just can't do the mopboards, and clean the floors on my hands and knees anymore. Hope you have a good weekend. Thanks again for the articles, they are always so informative. You & a are like my personal librarians. Love to all, Jan in SC
Guest guest
Hi Jan.. I'm sorry to here you are having such a time....reminded me of the first 6-8 months after I was diagnosed....I carried a bag wherever I went also, when I was on the pill form of mtx...the nausea totally stopped once I got on injections instead of pill form of mtx. I had someone come help once a month with the heavier housework too..now if I pace myself I can pretty much do it on my own...what doesn't get done...just doesn't...I used to enjoy cooking and baking on the weekends; but the standing and opening of containers made it too frustrating...I have bought different storage containers now for most of the ingredients so can deal with it better...I also put a tall stool in the kitchen so I can sit at the counter or stand whichever feels best..so I am hoping to get some canning and holiday baking done...I usually make my christmas presents not sure I can get that done this year, but plan to try...hope you can find some things to make the day to day jobs easier for you too...a year ago I was shoping for a skooter too....now I have been blessed with a great doc and rheummy and have found considerable relief on most days and walked for 3 hours yesterday at the mall..unthinkable a year ago...best to you and hope you have a better day today...marge Re: [ ] Preventing gastrointestinal complications of NSAIDs > : Thanks for the article. Guest guest
Marge; Thanks for your input. I am going to ask the dr to change the mtx to the injections when I see him this month. I am really going to push to get off the Prednisone also. Six year s is too long as far as I am concerned. So glad you are able to get about better. It really does make a difference. I too, try to make Christmas gifts, I crochet daily to keep my hands working, of course the joints swell but I still have great movement. I used to make wreaths etc, but it is so diffucult to use glue gun now. Like you, I am so thankful for the good days and try to make the best of it. Have a pain free week. Oh, I have changed to earthlink: burnettaljanb@.... Jan in SC
Guest guest
Thanks , Jan, Tess and all for your reesponse, I sem to be in my first big flare in almost a year...I see the opthomologist on the 13th aboutthe sjorgens and probably the stress from my deteriorating vision is not helping....I keep wondering if its the plaquennil...I came home early from work today due to the pain...as a kid I spent about a year in braces not sure why...but probably ra then...I went into a long remission until a few years ago and my bigest fear all my life was loss of use of my legs...guess the loss of my eyes fear is even bigger just never something I expected....I rfan into a friend this weekend who has macular degeneration, and just gave up her drivers license,I'm probably blowing it up too much prior to the eye appointment., I am on a gradual reduction of my premarin,,,,perhaps that is where the self pity is coming from...and the hot flashes. but throwing up my pills from the soy added complications probably hasn't helped my ra symptoms...how's that for letting it all hang out...I can;t believe how quickly I got into the dull drums and poor me...a good thing that came out of it is my roommate agreed it was time to make the trip to the grand canyon I have always wanted to make...we're going next spring but this is not how I usually make a plan for a trip...out of fear of getting there before my vision goes enough self pity...thanks for listening...i'm usually pollyanna and hope to get through this phase as soon as possible...must sign off...my fingers are too stiff to keep typing...hope the rest of you are sleeping since it is only 3 a.m. and the dogs are barking...As you may know, I moved to the country last May and we saw the first deer in our backyard this last weekend, trying to keep the dogs from chasing them away....do't forget to vote...forgive my rambling...probably should just delete this...marge Re: [ ] Preventing gastrointestinal complications of NSAIDs > Marge; Thanks for your input.
