Guest guest
Hi, Been a member of this group a long time. Almost every day, I feel as if I am at the end of my rope. Chronic pain is one of the culprits which keeps me bedridden every day. Its hard to get a straight answer from any doctor, even a specialist. I have fibro and CFIDS. 4 years ago, I went through a terrible emotional trauma. My CFS/ became so physically painful that I was not able to move. I continue to have muscle pain in my thighs. The pain runs from my hips to knees, worse in my quadriceps. Massage sometimes helps but often the muscles are too tight to reduce pain. After lying in bed for a year, I began to have lower back pain which got worse, too. Sharp back pain and in the SI joints. 4 years later after being bounced around from doctor to doctor, now an Orthopedist wants to give me an epidural type injection for my back pain. I've already had cortisone injections in my SI joints with no effect. I've posted about this pain before. Is the pain in my thighs Fibromyalgia? What IS it? Why does it hurt so much? Do I keep the appointment with the Orthopedist in case he can help with my lower back pain? Will it have any affect on my thigh pain? He is the only person to take any type of action. As many of you, I feel abandoned by my community and my friends. Every day that I lie in bed with pain is another day of my life lost with no hope of a normal future. Hopelessness has set in and I'm already worried about winter blues. E-mail privately is ok. Yellerlab@...
Guest guest
Hi , The epidural injections are safer than steroids. Steroids can have a bunch of negative effects including decalcifying bones and weakening cartilage. It is hard to say if Fibromyalgia is causing your pain, I am no doctor. I would hope your doctor has ruled all other reasons for the pain out. Deconditioning from being bed bound has not helped the situation. The human body is designed to be upright and moving, which works against those with physical limitations. Any questions ask, I'm not shy. Take care of you.
