Guest guest
Hello, Camille! a's web site has some very helpful links to help answer your question about your first appointment and how to talk to your doctor: http://rheumatoid.arthritis.freehosting.net/help.html#md " Preparation for your Rheumatology Consultation " from Dr. Doc: http://www.arthritis.co.za/consult.html This one is geared toward lupus, but much of it applies: http://www.mtio.com/lupus/lfadrpt.htm I advise writing your questions down before you go. That way, you won't forget anything. Some people on DMARDs here do seem to be more susceptible to infections and illnesses, others don't. It's hard to say with any certainty how the drugs will affect you. Each person's situation is unique. This would be a good question for your rheumatologist, especially as you and she try to decide on which treatment for you. You could also ask your rheumatologist which complementary/alternative therapies she recommends. Here's a good page from the Arthritis Foundation entitled " Alternative Therapies: Getting the Most of Any Treatment " : http://www.arthritis.org/conditions/alttherapies/getmost.asp (be sure to see the sidebars) Good luck and let us know how it goes! Guest guest
Camille, I have a rottweiler too and have to say they are the best dogs. Mine is the smaller breed of rottie and has the best disposition of any dog I¹ve ever known. I¹m hoping to get a puppy in the next year. I hope you went to the website listed at the bottom of every email and read about your first visit. Being on immunosuppressive drugs does make you more susceptible to infection and it usually takes longer to get over colds etc. Milk Thistle is very good for the liver and you should ask your doctor if it¹s a problem to take it. a > Hello All! > > Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. Guest guest
Dear a, Thank you for the reply and info! Yes, Rotties are absolutely THE BEST! Have you ever seen the 'CARL' books? If you have, that's our Yeager--he just can't get enough of the baby! It's the cutest! I am so excited for you that you may get another pup--puppy breath, and all the adventures that go with it...ah, I'm envious :-) Take good care, Camille. > Camille, > I have a rottweiler too and have to say they are the best dogs. Guest guest
Yes Camille, I¹ve seen the Carl books. Your Yaeger is beautiful. I¹m looking forward to getting a puppy in the spring and hope it¹s as sweet as the one I have. I used to be so afraid of them and would never have gotten one, but mine came with my husband. The first day he went to work and left me home with this ³beast² I was afraid to leave my house because I though the dog wouldn¹t let me back in my own house LOL! Now this ³beast² is my best friend that never leaves my side. a > Dear a, > Thank you for the reply and info! Yes, Rotties are absolutely THE > BEST! Have you ever seen the 'CARL' books? Guest guest
The pulling another student incident is probably his "seeing people as furniture", well, that is what my younger ds did and what we called it. lol. But basically, he would get to what he wanted and if people were in the way, he didn't notice them except to climb over them. Seems like your ds is doing what he is told to do and moving people who are in the way in the same way he would move a coat out of the way. That may be a bad way of explaining it so maybe someone else has an idea. I'm not sure what the problem is at going home time except it sounds like he needs a visual schedule to follow, which is easy to put together. Then he may needs prompts to follow it until he gets the hang of it. They could hang appropriate schedules in his locker or by his cubby or where it will be easiest to see when it is needed. And again, he may need someone to help him follow it until he gets the hang of it. Good luck with your meeting! Let us know how it goes! Roxanna Autism Happens 20 ( ) A couple questions... Ok, I am dotting my “i’s†and crossing my “t’s†for this meeting tomorrow with both boys teachers and the principal. I have a lot of things printed off. I spoke to the Autism Society of Newfoundland, who gave me the phone numbers for the Autism consultant for our school board, who gave me many good ideas. I am trying to take in a bunch of stuff to help them understand what Aspergers IS… however I have a feeling that it’s going to take some work to get them on board. I won’t hesitate to call the lady back I s poke to yesterday, because she can come in and do Professional Development with the school to teach them about AS. Now… focusing on my youngest specifically… Last week, he pulled on another student. I had already requested that she give me MORE INFORMATION so that I know *why* he did it, what his triggers are at school, etc. So today, she wrote me another note explaining that he’d pulled the student when she was getting something out of the basket in the classroom, and he went to get HIS kit out of the basket at the same time. He pulled on her to move her out of the way. To me, this is so classic… but how do I best explain this to them? Also, going home every day is an issue for him. She says he needs to be “constantly reminded†to get ready, and that he lays on the floor and tries to get ready down there. Again, this is such a transitional issue for him. Right now, I am currently NOT happy with the fact that they have him standing up ACROSS a large hall alone once his coat and shoes are on… talk about ostracization. And honestly, this teacher (who’s suppose d to be the special needs teacher??) seems a bit (ok a lot) lazy to me. They ring two bells in the morning. She doesn’t show up in the KINDERGARTEN classroom until just before the 2nd bell… and expects that the kids are sitting quietly in their seats when she gets there? Um, they are 5 and 6 yrs old??? Not only that… but during the time from when they get off the bus, to the time their teacher shows up, they are unsupervised. I stayed in the classroom this morning (Because I’m driving Caleb to school from now on, as he’s having issues on the bus, we’ll try again next year)… and may very well do that everyday. Ok… so I’ll stop rambling. I’ve had nightmares about this meeting going horribly bad… I think I’ve made a LOT of phone calls, gotten a LOT of information, and I feel (mostly) prepared… just those few things I’m not sure how to approach. Experienced AS Moms… tell me, at some point, this gets easier??? Cause some days, I feel like I’m doing ok and others, I feel completely helpless =) We found the real 'Hotel California' and the 'Seinfeld' diner. What will you find? Explore WhereItsAt.com.
