Guest guest
Hi Carol. Sorry you¹ve been experiencing this abdominal pain. Here is a clip from the Merck Manual regarding an enlarged spleen: An enlarged spleen doesn't cause many symptoms, and none of them reveals the specific cause of enlargement. Because the enlarged spleen lies next to the stomach and may press against it, a person may feel full after eating a small snack or even without eating. A person may also have abdominal or back pain in the area of the spleen; the pain may spread to the left shoulder, especially if parts of the spleen don't get enough blood and start to die. http://www.merck.com/pubs/mmanual_home/sec14/161.htm Does this sound like the pain you are having? How is the pain today? a > I am having some pretty bad pain in my upper left abdomen. I've taken Gas-X > and antacid, and I don't think it has to do with it. Guest guest
The pain is in the area of the spleen, but it’s not radiating up to my shoulder. It is radiating to the back a little. It eased up a little last night, but is bothering me again this morning. I spoke with my MD and he told me he thinks it’s gastro. He said to take some pepto bismol and antacids (which I’ve already done, thanks so much) and to come in if it isn’ t better so he can check me out. I’m going to wait at least until afternoon, and if I need to I’ll go in. I have a speech to give tonight and I can’t be hunched over in pain while I’m doing it. Love and hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Spleen Question - or a Hi Carol. Sorry you¹ve been experiencing this abdominal pain.
