Guest guest
Hi, Tess, I hadn't heard about anxiety symptoms with Trazodone. Sleep problems? I have had them in the past, but with the change in my Thyroid medication, so much changed that I hardly remember the problems I was having. I didn't notice anxiety, but that's me. Your body is going to react as it reacts. It isn't for someone else to tell you what you are feelings. Actually, that quote from Flannery O'Connor is one I have used on my doctors when they didn't seem to understand that I needed sleep, not more meds! Many of the pain medications cause a " rebound affect " on me, so being able to take the Trazondone is great. Sleeping pills have not worked well for me. I don't like how I feel in the morning... You know, that hungover feeling that does not pass until afternoon -- just a few hours away from taking the next dose... Yucky! I have been having some terrible spasms and pain at night. I am awakened quite thoroughly, then I have to try to get back to sleep... I use the 50 mg dose when that happens and take it with warm milk -- something soothing. That generally works quite well for me. Dianne ----- Original Message ----- From: <tess_northwest@...> Hi Dianne...Thank you for the kind post. He did write a script for Trazadone. I have taken it in the past at I believe a 150 mg. level for sleep. It seemed to work for awhile, but I began getting a creepy feeling anxiety an hour or so after taking it. So, we went to elavil. My rheummy wrote a script for 10mg elavils (I was taking 50mg) and asked me to try to wean down, and try the 50mg lower dose of Trazadone. So, tonight is the night. I'm hoping it will work. The summer of 2001 I had a seige of insomnia with little sleep for 2 months and ended up in the hospital. People who don't have sleep issues, God bless them, have NO clue how horrible insomnia or waking in pain, muscle cramps, spasms can be. I hope this doesn't offend but the writer Flannery O'Connor, who had lupus and a very strong faith, wrote " Sleep is the Mother of God. " I don't think anyone could describe this more eloquently. Thank you, Dianne, for the encouragement. It means so much. Love & Hugs... Tess
Guest guest
Hi Dianne...It's interesting to watch people when you quote Flannery O'Connor...lots of times they look like " huh? " ...but with some they get a twinkle in their eye like " Aha! " - they 'get it.' The anxiety with Trazadone was at 150mg I'm pretty sure, and I'm not taking that much right now. I have talked with a few people who've had the same issue. The anxiety doesn't start immediately, but after a few months. And it's a real physically-felt anxiety...like creepy-crawly on your skin. Hope your weekend is peaceful & less painful. Hugs... Tess
Guest guest
Hi, Tess, I love watching people's faces when the light suddenly switches " on " ! It is my very strong belief that " Truth is Truth! It does not matter where you find it. If it is the Truth, it will find you! " Okay, now I know what you are talking about. I think that I didn't have that creepy-crawly feeling because I was on other psych meds at the same time. I took Klonopin 1 mg twice a day. I wonder if that would have made a difference. Trazodone was not dosed at 150, only at 50 - 75 mg for sleep, and only PRN. Guest guest
Hi Dianne...I've been on Klonopin since it was first marketed. It did help diminish the creepy-crawlies if I took it once they began, but when I tried taking it preventively, it didn't work! We are all so different, and complicated. No one could accuse us of being 'boring.' Love... Tess
Guest guest
Hi, Tess, I know what you mean. Even something as simple as aspirin can affect two people different ways. As for as not being boring? Well, that is true! A friend of mine said it so well... " Dianne, you may be bored sometimes, but you are never boring! " What a great boost for my ego that was! Guest guest
Hi Dianne, I’m so sorry your knee is in such a bad state, I hope the injections will bring you some relief. Good luck with trying to lose weight, there are many members here who are in the same situation so you will find lots of support in your efforts.
