The dr gave me Arthrotec which I had a reaction to and now only has me taking Motrin. I don't know where to begin or what to say to him. He's a new dr as I just moved from Cincinnati and feel really alone. Are there any suggestions as to a medication that I can discuss with him? I would appreciate any suggestions. I'm so glad that my sister found this group. Helps to know I'm not as alone as I feel. Lynda
Guest guest
Hi Lynda, Welcome to the group, but sure wish you (and the rest of us) didn't have the disease. Gee, we're nearly neighbors--I live just south of Richmond, Indiana. I go to a rheumatologist there, Dr. Ritu Madan. So far I like her, after one visit. Don't know what to tell you about the medication, as I am still in the trial stages of meds., having just found out I also have fibromyalgia too. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Lynda, Welcome to the group. I live in southwestern PA. I have been diagnosed for about 3 years now. One of the first meds that my drs put me on was methotrexate. And Prednisone of course. There are so many meds on the market now. It all depends on what your symptoms are. My suggestion is to be completely open with your dr. Tell him what your aches and pains are, what your worries are and how you want to live your life. I have found that developing a close relationship with my rheumy is one of the most important things for me right now. He is there to hear about how I feel. That is what his job is. If he doesn't know about my life, he can't treat me effectively. I have also found that this group is a Godsend for me. When I feel that others don't understand or if something new is happening with me, there is always someone here who can help. The support that I have found here has saved my sanity and the people here mean the world to me. I am glad that you have found us.
