Well, I saw the rheumy today. First off, she was very pleasant, well-

spoken, and thorough. Ron stayed with me, and he was admittedly

shocked at how much pain I was in--said he never realized it--and was

ready to grab the doctor and make her stoop hurting me!

I wasn't expecting to be stripped to my FOL's, glad they didn't have

holes, and I shaved my legs! After reading my bone scan from August,

feeling and moving every square inch of my body, writing reams of

information down, she now thinks that I have fibromyalgia. She has

not ruled out the RA too, but she did take me off the prednisone

effective IMMEDIATELY, as she said it did not allow her to tell if

there was joint swelling. So now I am only on darvocet for the pain

which is supposed to help me sleep too. I go back to see her in 2

weeks, after she has interpreted the latest blood work from today (I

left behind several vials of blood and now feel like a colander with

all the holes they left in my arms and hands trying to get blood!)

She actually gave me her pager number, as we are going on vacation

next week, and she said to call her immediately if the pain or

stiffness gets worse. I also have to have an MRI of my neck, as she

noted moderate restriction of movement there.

She did not try to minimize the seriousness of fibro, and she did

note that there is evidence of osteoarthritis in my ankles (from 2

fractures) and one knee, and she didn't like the obvious pain in my

hands, agreeing that there is some deformity.

So there I am, good people. I know medicine is not an exact science,

but I sure wish it was easier to get a diagnosis. Tonight I will say

special prayers for all who suffer from these d***ed diseases. May

we all find relief and SOON!

Oh, and one more thing to add to this already too-long post, she did

not criticize me for being 10 lbs. overweight--she actually was

surprised I had lost 10 lbs. over the past few weeks especially being

on the prednisone. Nice lady.

Hugs (with sore arms) to you all,

Judi
