Guest guest
Hi All, just called me with an update on Deb. She said that Deb is still unconscious and on the respirator, but her heart rate is down and blood pressure is up from the low level yesterday. The infectious disease doctor said there are two strains of bacteria that are a problem for her right now. One is in the blood, and the other didn’t know the details of. They have her back on three antibiotics. Vicki said that her mom is breathing 5% of the time on her own, but they want to keep her on the respirator so she can save her strength. Also she said that Deb is aware of them, she turns her head slightly and tries to open her eyes a little, and she squeezes their hand a little. said the news isn’t great still, but things look better than they did yesterday. It looks like our prayers are being heard! Love to all, Carol
Guest guest
Me too, . I was just glad the news wasn't worse. Although this sounds gross, she told me on the phone last Friday that she had sores on her body and they had a foul smelling discharge. She surmised that it was her body getting rid of the infection. Now it seems that it was probably her body overwhelmed with infection. If that's the case, couldn't the nurses or doctors have keyed in on this? Poor thing. I just can't believe that they let this happen to her. When I saw her last month she looked really good. She looked very strong and like she was well on the road to recovery. I just hope she can recover from this latest setback. Love, Carol Re: [ ] Update on Deb That's somewhat encouraging, Carol, but I'm still holding my breath. Guest guest
Carol, Do you know if they examined her other knee replacement to see if it is harboring the infection? It¹s pretty unbelievable that they would stop her IV antibiotics with all these sores and obvious infection. Someone somewhere dropped the ball and poor Debs is paying the price. It is so upsetting to think of our vibrant, witty Debs in this condition. I pray the Lord will hear our group¹s prayers. a > Me too, . Guest guest
a and Carol, I've been wondering the very same thing about her other knee replacement since this whole mess started. Carol or Judy, do you know if and how they checked out Debs' other prosthesis? Given the previous bad decisions that have been made for Debs along the course of this crisis, I'm afraid I CAN believe all of this. I'm so worried. I'm praying for divine guidance and inspiration for all the medical personnel working on her case. Guest guest
Hi a, I really don’t know if they examined her other knee, but the way things have gone up until this point I kind of doubt it. I’m not sure they stopped all her antibiotics, but I know at least some of them. The way Deb talked, though, it really sounded like they stopped all of them. Either way, it certainly was a mistake. I think of Debs when we met, and she’s just like you’d imagine: vibrant, witty, and so alive. I can’t imagine her fighting for her life right now. Hopefully today will bring more good news. Love and hugs, Carol Re: [ ] Update on Deb Carol, Do you know if they examined her other knee replacement to see if it is harboring the infection? Guest guest
The way things have gone, I just hope they don’t do anything drastic with the one knee without checking the other. I will ask Ron today when I call. Lots of love, Carol Re: [ ] Update on Deb a and Carol, I've been wondering the very same thing about her other knee replacement since this whole mess started.
