Guest guest
What my sister and niece found out at their visit to the Neurologist on Monday Nov 24th . . . He put her on anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxants since no one had done that yet. He wants to see her again in 3 weeks to see what effect those have. He does want at least two more MRIs, one of the whole head, the first was just of her neck and I believe one with contrast media, I am not sure about that one. He was concerned that her symptoms had worsened over the 4 months since the accident rather than showing improvement with time. But he said that could be from the fact that she was not treated with anti-inflammatories. He thought it was more likely to be a congenital condition that was exacerbated by the accident, than caused solely by the trauma. Apparently whole families can have it, someone mentioned to me he just saw a show on TV about a family living with genetic Chiari I Malformation. The possibility of a CSF leak was not of as much concern as the possibility that the circulation of CSF could be impeded. The follow up MRIs should give more detail. My sister did not say anything about a myelogram yet although we did not discuss everything the doctor told her so it could still be in the cards. At least the neurologist was not going to rush her into surgery and seemed to be taking it step wise. Garnet
