Guest guest
Hmm. I have a daughter studying to be a nurse practitioner but she tells me they are not permitted to prescribe drugs that are for chronic conditions such as cancer or asthma. (Isn't it inspiring to know that our ailment is on a par with cancer??). I also saw this on a board someplace a few months ago. I was hoping that I might be able to get her to write me scripts if I needed them. My doc only works about three days a week--and not at all on holiday weeks--and sometimes my timing is bad--can run out of medicine during a time when he's not available. That happened a couple years ago and I wound up in the ER and it took me nearly two years to pay off the bills. --marty On Monday, November 24, 2008, at 12:47 , Rodney & Cindi wrote: > That is interesting...I live in rural Arizona, and our clinics have > nurse practitioners as well, and they can write any script..including > for pain here. > > Cindi > > Martha wrote: > > Ann-- I live in Fla. in a rural area and there are clinics around > here, but none can prescribe asthma medications. Guest guest
Over here, the asthma nurse can change your medications if she (it is usually a woman) deems if necessary, especially as they are the ones with whom you get a 1/2 hour appointment, and so has the time to listen to problems with the medication (such as with the clenil that I used to hvae, I couldn't take it without coughing violently), how you are doing generally, so increase / decrease as necessary, sort out new prescriptions... but although htey can write them out and print them, they have to acually get it signed by a doctor. Sometimes, if there's a doctor about and free, they will do it there and then, but other times I've had to pop back in the following day to pick it up. Jenn Tha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me. > > ...are there any free clinics near you?
