Peak flow readings

I have just double checked what my predicted peak flow reading should be, and the website I used showed something curious. So I thought I'd ask here, as you should all know...

What is the scale you use in America for peak flow readings? The chart the website showed had two scales, EU (and the peak flow meter it showed alongside is the same as the one I have, the standard EU one), but then it also had a -McKerrow scale. The two scales were different. I was wondering if you all used the W-M one? If so, that means whenever you all give your readings on here, it's different to what mine are, ie the EU scale shows my predicted at being 435, but the W-M one at 481...

The asthma nurse did tell me, before I went to Cuba, to take my own peak flow with me if I needed medical attention, as that way I had one that is familiar to me if they needed to take readings, and so I could compareit easier.

Okay, further to this, I ahve been reading something on the same

website. It seems that the W-M scale is an old one, and the EU one is

a new one brought in in 2004, right across the EU,a s the way the old

one was developed had several design flaws (mainly that it was

developed on the readings os asthmatics, rather than healthy lungs),

but these are not the same as the American Thoracic Society scale,

which I'm guessing that's what you all use?

It also says that several ATS scale meters are not up to the standard

required for the EU ones...
